"You idiot! You could have died!"
✘♚✘ Standing in the middle of Steve's apartment bedroom, Billy let out a laugh at the reaction to his story. His shirt was off and he stared over his shoulder to get a look at his bare back in the mirror. Steve had asked about one of the scars, a jagged line about three inches long, that wasn't part of the obvious circular pattern from being impaled by the Mind Flayer. Billy had recounted one of his more harrowing days in the Upside Down when he was chased by a few of the bat-like creatures while scavenging for supplies in a two story house. He'd been forced to jump through the window and in the process, landed on a piece of glass. His stitching skills left much to be desired which resulted in a very obvious scar that puckered his tan skin.
"Yeah, but i didn't did I?" Billy replied with a cocky grin as he turned away from the mirror and towards Steve. He pulled the loose tank top back on now that he was done showing off the scar, then stood before his companion, plucking the joint from Steve's lips and taking a hit. He wasn't entirely sure how it happened, but the pair had been spending more and more time together. The need to bully the former king of the social ladder was irrelevant now. Moreover, Billy found himself actually enjoying the other man's company. If he was honest, he could admit that their interactions that toed the line of flirtation gave him a thrill.
Laying down on the carpeted floor, Billy looked up at Steve and held up the joint for him to take back. "What about you, man? I know you gotta have something. What happened there?" He gestured to the light scarring on Steve's neck.
It was a dangerous topic for Billy to get into, but he wanted to learn more about the other man. The danger came from his own scars. There were a couple that came with cool stories from the Upside Down that he was more than willing to share. Three of his scars, however, he hoped would remain hidden from anyone else's eyes. The faint, tiny line he tried to hide with his tattoo, the checkmark on his left forearm, and the small circle on the back of his neck were gifts from his father. Though some people, like Steve, now knew the truth about the monster that possessed his very body, no one knew about the monster he had grown up with.
