He basically swoops in while Zero’s still dead, and installs himself as Issimo’s new ‘father figure’ he does this to most of his ‘entourage’ in the 9th, actually. Issimo is still very much in his ‘I-need-affection-to-fill-this-void-in-my-heart-and-I’ll-take-it-from-anywhere’ phase, so he falls headfirst into Shade Fox’s trap.

“Even your father said your voice trick was creepy, but I think we could make it into something absolutely vital. All you have to do....is trust me.”

And then Shade Fox tries to kill Issimo!
