A Random Observation about Visions of V: Vergil’s motivation(s) for fighting DanteÂ
At the beginning of VoV, Vergil wants to become powerful enough to fight Dante and defeat him. Vergil wants to defeat Dante to prove that his beliefs- that power and strength are the sole determinants of one's fate in the world- are correct over Dante’s beliefs in the strengths of humanity.Â
At the end of VoV, V encourages Vergil to fight Dante to teach him a lesson about not messing with his older brother. He encourages him to fight Dante like they did when they were younger- when they were the older and younger twin fighting over the simplest of things, like books. V(ergil) understands that he needs to be human- that his humanity will give him the strength necessary for him to move past his trauma and finally live. And he can fully embrace his humanity by reconnecting with Dante and becoming his family again.
Long story short: The reasons why Vergil wants to fight Dante in VoV are a reflection of V's journey.
The consistent thing is that Vergil will always want to beat Dante up regardless of whatever character development he goes through. Â
