having a villain f/o is so funny. fate is describing the latest horrific doom i've spelled for the world in his game and im just sitting here kicking my feet and going like "heehee your voice is so pretty 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 and then what happened baby"

mcga rests on the cosmic horror premise of a world that is destined to end in a terrible way and the entire series is the protagonists working to delay that total annihilation for as long as they can while knowing that one day everything they've built and loved will wither and die while they watch helplessly but they must make sure that day is not today. magnus learns that his blood family are all stuck in a cold limbo and he is completely powerless to save them or even contact them in any way ever. magnus will outlive some of his best friends by hundreds if not thousands of years and he will always be a sixteen-year-old boy. the other members of floor nineteen have almost all been largely forgotten as everyone they ever knew is either dead (halfborn, tj) or moved on with their lives (mallory, alex). the world of mcga isn't fair and there isn't a way to make it fair but the best they can do is make it a little more bearable in the meantime. there's a darkness hanging over the entire trilogy and that's deep for a middle grade YA fantasy story.
