Jack Morrison/Reader Soulmate Headcannons (This is long so under a Readmore)
Timer - Timers on your arm that start when you turn ten and read how long it will be until you make eye contact with your soulmate.
When S/O was ten, the timer on her wrist started, saying “17 yr:2 mnths:4 hrs:48 mins” and began to count down.
At first they were obsessed with the timer, watching the time tick down but eventually got angry and upset when others read 7 or sometimes even 11 years when their’s still read over 15.
By the time they were 27, and a journalist with a big multinational journalism company, they could care less about the timer on their arm and made sure to wear long sleeves to colour up the timer so no one saw it.
They had been invited to a one-on-one interview with Strike Commander Morrison and Captain Amari when they meet their soulmate. Jack Morrison.
They had been sitting in the room for about an hour, S/O asking questions, taking notes and looking at papers they had brought with them, before they looked up and made eye contact with the Strike Commander.
Ana, who had been in the middle of speaking, went dead quiet when two timers went off in the room. Jack had frozen to his spot and looked down to the timer on his arm.
S/O had just slowly looked down to her sleeve and realize that this morning it had said “4 hrs:36mins”
“Jack I thought-” “Ana give us a sec.” “You sure Jack?” “Positive.”
S/O watched them smile to each other and then they were left with their soulmate.
“Your timer went off too...?” Jack seemed anxious. “Unfortunately.” “What do you mean? Where you expecting someone else?”
Instead of the rest of the interview, Jack and his S/O spent their time explaining their experiences with the timers.
S/O explained how they resented it, everyone got to meet their Soulmate so much sooner and S/O resented that. That everyone else was luckier than they were cause they got to spend more time with the person they were meant to spend the rest of their lives with.
Jack explained his timer had gone off already but the person who was meant to be his soulmate, their timer hadn’t.
Jack and S/O began to date however when Overwatch feel down and Jack ‘died’ the timer on their arm, which still stayed there even after they meet their soulmate, broke.
However they eventually meet again. Jack cradling his soulmate and apologizing for leaving them. For not telling them.
Eyes - When you are born you are born with one normal eye and the other is the colour of your soulmates and only when you meet your soulmate do your eyes turn to their normal colour.
When Jack was born, he was born with blue eyes. His parents worried he wouldn’t have a soulmate.
A month after his birth, one eye turned (colour) and his parents celebrated that their son had a someone.
Jack however didn’t meet them until after he had become Soldier 76.
He meet a male/female in a market in (Imma go with Sydney cause why not).
One one was (colour) the other was a blood red mixed with blue. The colour his eye had turned when he had ‘died’.
He had been watching from the shadows for any unusual activity when they had looked his way and under his visor they looked eyes.
Jack watched their eye turn from red/blue to (colour) and watched his breath be taken away.
He couldn’t approach them and wont. Protect from a distance.
But somehow they had found him and confronted him about his eyes.
They didn’t realise who he was until he took off his mask.
From then they were in a relationship, of sorts, and Jack spent much time protecting the one who he had been lucky enough to be the soulmate of.
