IDOL JOURNEY ᯓ Iruri had been an anonymous artist under the name 'Audie' (오디). she started gaining popularity with her song 'Still with you', and due to popular demand, she uploaded more songs on spotify and apple music and posted self-made mvs on youtube. she was pretty well known on tiktok and in korea for being korean artist located in switzerland—as seen in her mvs. But one day, Zico had come across her performance of her original song ‘Still with you’, and immediately booked a flight to Switzerland to find her. (Yall I don't fuck with Zico but for the sake of bnd, I will write him to be a better person, so pls bare with me)

He had scouted her in Jan of 2022, and she began training in Sept 2022 and debuted in May 2023 in BoyNextDoor. She had a gap between when she was scouted and when she started training because she actually debuted as a celebrity chef with her own KBS cooking show —‘Chu-Chef Next Door! Our daughter's recipes!’ ('추셰프 넥스트도어! 우리 딸의 레시피!' or '옆집 추셰프! 우리 딸의 레시피') And then it was announced she was going to debut in KOZ's first group. So, she had a solid fan base prior. Her show has been airing since March 2022 and has run for 4 seasons—one season per year. The show is still airing Season 4 in 2025.

She was added last minute as Zico desperately wanted her in the group, and at first the other members didn’t warm up to her as everything had been finalized and she wasn’t even a trainee and suddenly added to the line-up.

Zico had to convince her dad since he had planned for her to stay in the culinary industry. But her father encouraged her to try something different since she’s been in the culinary industry since childhood—she honestly did it on a whim. But she somehow ended up in the final line-up for a boy group. Her addition felt weird at first since the group is literally named ‘Boynextdoor’ but Zico had already had the idea to add a girl into the group long ago but scrapped the idea because he didn’t find anyone who fit his vision of the group, until he saw Iruri perform. They finally were able to fulfill Zico’s idea of having a girl in the group. Officially, they are a co-ed group. Zico’s explanation for her addition is that the members are her ‘boys next door’, and it is depicted in their debut concept video that the boys are her neighbors and the boys next door.

She had performed her new song 'Drowning' which she had written and produced herself. Zico loved the song, her voice, and talent so much, which is why he immediately placed her in the line-up. For her teaser video, they debuted ‘Drowning’ as an her first song after revealing herself as 'Audie'. The song charted no.1 for months. She had become a trending topic in Korea—not only for her song that is still charting top 5 til this day and had become Korea's anthem—but also for her background.

Korea had become obsessed with her background—the first idol from born and raised in Switzerland, and she was a sous chef in a michelin star restaurant as well. And she hasn't even debuted yet. She was officially the most anticipated idol to debut. She also shocked netizens with her visuals. Plastic surgery rumors started, but people dug up her old photos from her father’s restaurant to disprove the rumors.

Iruri was the only member to be teased to the public. At first people thought Zico was going to debut a girl group upon seeing Iruri, so Boynextdoor’s debut as a Co-ed group was a surprise. The members at first were awkward around her, she was the last to be added to the groups line-up and had trained for the shortest. Other members had trained for years, while she wasn’t even a trainee when she was added into the group. So to be frank—some of the members held slight resentment towards her at the beginning. Thinking her addition was just to draw attention to the group, but when Zico showed them the video that captivated him to sign her into his label—they understood why she was a part of their line-up. Over those 4 months, the boys had warmed up to her and actively helped her, whether it was with dancing or just adjusting to korea in general.

Iruri had never stepped foot in Korea, she was purely born and raised in Switzerland—only ever speaking Korean with her father. But the members and staff helped her adjust to Korea over those couple months.

ᯓ her fandom name as 'audie' is chuuyeogi (츄여기). it comes from the fact that 'audie' sounds like 'where?' in korean, '오디'— so her fandom is 'chuu is here!' as 'yeogi (여기)' means here. and then her individual fandom in boynextdoor is, 'chuydonggi' '츄동이' which is just chuu + dong (cute speech for door—like aegyo way of saying door is 동 (because door is 도어 so shortened and with like cuter speech is 동)

ᯓ She is apart of what is known as ‘ka-chu-yu’ '가추유' ( hehe pretend sullyoon and wonyoung don't exist in this universe guys oops). The top 3 visuals are Karina, Chu Iruri, and Yuna. She is the newest addition since she debuted in 2022. But is known for being the most loved nationwide— especially among older people, because of her KBS cooking show. She is more of a household name in Korea among parents and grandparents, especially grandmothers and moms, because of her cooking shows and her ads on food brands. Of which she cried during her acceptance speech for the Daesang as she did not expect to win at all. ᯓ she sometimes doesn’t understand the members or staff because of the slight language barrier—there are some things she doesn’t understand. she mostly struggles with any idioms, puns, or cultural things (like stuff koreans grow up with) as she didn’t grow up in korea.

This song went so viral that fans begged for her to release it on Spotify and Apple Music. She then continued to release songs like ‘Only’, ‘Gone’, and 'Y si fuera ella'. All three songs had self-made mvs that were shot on a cam-corder and like a vlog—she remained faceless. Her songs reached mainstream Korea as they were fascinated by Korean artist located in Switzerland (as seen in her mvs), and they loved her style of filiming as well, it forshadowed her signature aesthetic. She trendsetted the camcorder/digicam vibes for Korea. and it forshadowed her success with 'Ditto'. that aesthetic is unanimously known to be recognized as 'Audie' and now 'Iruri'.

ᯓ but then she went mega viral in Korea for her song, ‘Ditto’—with self-made mv and original choreography. And then in 2023, she first debuted with her song ‘Drowning’, ‘I Am’, and ‘GODS’ in April. This was when she revealed her identity as ‘Audie’, and re-debuted as ‘Chu Iruri’. So when she promoted ‘Drowning’ and ‘I Am’, and finally performed ‘Ditto’ on music shows. Then in May 2023, a month later, she officially debuted in BOYNEXTDOOR. Then in March 2024, she released her first mini album, which included the songs; APT (Ft. Bruno Mars), Magnetic, Love wins all, Bamyanggang, Small girl (ft. D.O), Armageddon, Mantra and Whiplash. Clearly this album went viral with APT and Magnetic going viral and charting on the Billboard Charts. Every single song on this album won some sort of award, and or went viral in Korea. Everyone and their mother did covers—whether it was ‘Love win all’, ‘Bamyanggang’, or ‘Small Girl’ —or dance covers of ‘Armageddon’, ‘Mantra’, or ‘Whiplash’. 2024 was her year, not only was she winning awards for her cooking show, she won Artist of the Year as a rookie at MAMA. BND couldn’t be any more proud, but she never separated herself from them either, always using any opportunity to promote her group.

ᯓ she was able to collab with Bruno Mars because, actually he is an acquaintance of her father, and when he heard that she had recently debuted as an artist, she asked him personally if he and her could make a song together. And they wrote APT together. And we all know how overplayed that song is, and well-loved it is—similar to magnetic as well or bamyanggang are to Koreans.

ᯓ and lastly, she released ‘Gnarly’ and ‘Like Audie’ in March 2025. ‘Like Audie’ was written and produced by Zico and Iruri, while Gnarly was a demo. And for the ‘No Genre’ album, she had a solo feature ‘Style’, which she also released as a single.

ᯓ Yoo Jaesuk has expressed that his family’s favourite show is actually ‘Chu-Chef Next Door!’, that his wife watches it religiously, that when they met—he said ‘i’m sorry to interrupt the script but i really need to ask for your autograph or else my wife, Kyung-eun will ignore me’. And later on, both Yoo Jaesuk and Iruri posted instagram posts of her having dinner with his family in his house, he and his wife and invited her over, and of course she cooked for them. At first his wife was going to cook for them, but Iruri declined the offer—saying that she didn’t want to make her feel pressured or burdened to cook for a chef. She even asked Jaesuk for Naeun and Jiho’s preferences, or any requests they have, and of course she fulfilled every request. She prepared a full michelin star course meal for them, with the full phases and dessert as well, and multiple cuisines as well—as Kyung-eun, his wife wanted to personally taste French and Italian cuisine. After that, she would come over once in a while to have dinner with them, and Yoo Jaesuk has expressed that out of all the young idols or celebrities he’s met and befriended, he genuinely felt as if Iruri was part of his family. Naeun also loves singing Boynextdoor’s ‘If I say I love you’ now, especially Iruri’s part.

ᯓ Iruri would be spotted in Yoo Jaesuk’s or his wife’s instagram posts on random days as well, as she gets invited to hang out with them on any family outings. Yoo Jaesuk publicly during an interview revealed that, his wife had adopted Iruri into their family and that ‘she’s their family while she’s in korea’. Funny thing is tho—Jaesuk has said that he is lowkey scared of her, and he becomes a little drained because of her high energy and its like he has three toddlers to take care of, and one is fully grown and is louder and even more energetic than the actual children. Mostly because she tires him out mentally, with her absurd humor or weird behavior. She also mentioned him during her acceptance speech for winning her daesang, calling him her second dad while he was lowkey laughing at her crying. But when all the winners had to stand together, he walked to stand next to her to wipe her tears and pat her head, he also rubbed her back to calm her down.

ᯓ she continues to cook. She actually won over the boys with her food—which makes sense. No one even knew she was actually a chef, as she didn’t find it relevant to tell. Until randomly announcing it to them when they were gushing over her cooking.

ᯓ the boys always look so flabbergasted when she speaks foreign languages, like they can’t compute how those vowels and sounds are coming out her mouth. But they always randomly ask her what something is in german or french or italian or romansh

ᯓ she is always cooking, she is always cooking in the dorms, as she makes most of their meals for them. If she is not cooking, she’s preparing meals for them. She honestly doesn’t know how they survive without her, like she truly wonders how they eat if she’s not there. And on days where she doesn’t cook, they literally survive on ramen and take-out. She’s the sole reason they eat properly.

ᯓ Iruri is truly in her element in the kitchen, the members said she spends more time in the kitchen than her own room. She doesn’t always cook michelin meals obviously, Iruri just cooks normal meals for them, because how can she make 7 servings of michelin level meals every week? But on special occasions she will make a michelin meal

ᯓ bnd revealed that, they have so many food/cooking episodes or themed videos because the staff just want an excuse to eat michelin level food. There is countless footage of her cooking and feeding the staff, and the staff excitedly eating her food.

ᯓ but Iruri feeding people(™) isn’t limited to her members and staff but also to onedoor their fans. For example, for ISAC, Iruri personally made around 300 lunch boxes for onedoor and their staff. And that went viral, alongside onedoors sharing their food to other fandoms since she made too much. She shared the extra lunch boxes with the mcs and staff of ISAC. but she said in the future she would probably only do it for her members, fans and their personal staff because it was really hard to make 300 servings. Iruri and bnd trended on twitter for this, with people saying how lucky onedoors were. And also, Iruri preparing the lunch boxes made them late for 5 hrs, as it took her roughly 2-3 days to prep and finish all the food.

And Iruri is currently taking lessons under Chef Yeonbok to learn Chinese cuisine. She obviously specializes in French and Italian but she is able to also do Korean and Chinese as well now.

ᯓ she spends most of her time cooking, learning, or practicing different cuisines. So on her day off, she’ll take classes with Lee YeonBok and Baek Jongwon for Korean and Chinese cuisine.

ᯓ she was a judge on netflix’s Culinary Class Wars, the trio; chef Ahn Sungjae, chef Baek Jongwon, and Chef Chu Iruri were well loved for their dynamic. Netizens compared their dynamic to a father with his son and youngest daughter, where the son and father bicker while they both dote on the maknae but also struggling to rangle the energetic Iruri. When they were first introduced—both chefs complimented and praised Iruri for being so young yet already well-accomplished in the culinary world. Chef Ahn even said that his wife enjoys learning to cook from her cooking show more than from him. And Chef Baek said that his wife adores her as well, that they both view Iruri as a daughter, and both requested their husbands to get her autograph.

ᯓ netizens also joked that Culinary Class Wars was also part Iruri mukbang show—they also loved the trio as it basically looked like they were babysitting a rambunctious toddler in the form of Iruri. But she also was the one who had to mitigate their bickering. They always say the moment where Iruri looks the coolest is when she’s cooking. But to her, she feels the coolest when she cooks childhood meals, the recipes her father and her would cook together in their home, just the two of them, those meals are the ones she treasures the most.

Her dad is actually just as bright and funny as her but in a calmer sense, when asked why, he just said, ‘seeing her like that already drains my energy’.

ᯓ Iruri revealed that, when she was young, her dad would put her to bed—but he would stay up late making her lunches and experimenting with meals for his restaurant. but he would do it much slower than normal because he didn’t want to make any noise that could wake her up. But she would sometimes struggle to sleep without the presence of her dad in the same room, so she’d waddle to the kitchen and peek to see him quietly and slowly cook her lunch and breakfast for the next day. And she would sit on the floor—peeking her head out the corner of the wall to watch him, but she’d fall asleep. What she didn’t know was—her dad knew she was there and knew that she would eventually fall asleep against the wall, and he’d carry her back to her room.

ᯓ her father also revealed that, her mother had kept a pregnancy diary and would film short home-videos of her pregnancy—that iruri would watch those videos religiously, wanting to hear her voice and watch her face—to hear her mom talking to her through her belly or the camera. iruri confessed that sometimes when she missed her mother the most, she'd fall asleep reading the pregnancy diary. her dad also said that—she resembles her mother, she looks like her mother more than her dad, but she has his mannerisms. and fans noticed from the home-videos of her mother that—iruri may has the similar tone and talks like her father, her voice and personality is from her mother.

ᯓ Iruri’s dream is to perform in Switzerland with Boynextdoor—or at least she wants to bring her members to her hometown specifically. She wants to take them to the alps and show them the beautiful mountains and the beauty of her town. But most of all, she wants to take her members to her father’s restaurant. ᯓ (again, I don't like Zico but he's done rlly well with bnd so) Zico encourages Iruri to contribute to songwriting and producing since he knows she has the talent for it. He also encourages and gives her opportunities to do more solo activities regarding cooking—once he saw how much people loved watching her cook, and wanted to learn from her, he immediately got her a cooking show on KBS!

ᯓ Zico also pushes her to have a solo career as well. she has her own individual songs, only because she produces them herself and Zico wants to release them. But her solo schedules (regarding music) is shorter than boynextdoor's usual activities. meaning she'll appear once or three times per music show, then only a handful of interviews or other promotional content on other shows, but that's it. as she has to focus on her cooking show more.

ᯓ bnd members expressed that they're so thankful for her because, even though she has a lot for solo schedules, she always introduces herself as bnd's member. she is always promoting bnd. she'll promote bnd before her own songs.

ᯓ sometimes their schedules overlap. she'll be promoting one of her solos during a bnd comeback. for instance, like during 'i feel good' era, bnd were against iruri for no.1. and if she won for that week, bnd members will stay on the encore stage with her

ᯓ since leehan cant cook to save his life, the members joke that 'good thing, iruri is there cook for him for the rest of his life'. those two have their own fixations, leehan with his love for fish, and iruri with her love for food and cooking. they both indulge the other in their own hobbies. leehan is apart of her routine for grocery shopping, and although she doesn't trust him in the kitchen, he'll sit there and watch as she meal-preps for the week. mostly helping her clean up. and iruri will sit with him for hours in silence, watching over his fish. sometimes, they'll just be in each others company—iruri cooking dinner and leehan sitting watching his fishes (since the tank is literally in the kitchen). and he appreciates that she doesn't even complain that his fish tank is in the kitchen counter, especially with how diligent and meticulous she is with her kitchen. he is the exception. as otherwise she would have placed it somewhere else.

ᯓ let's be honest. the only reason that dorm is fully stocked with food and proper cooking equipment is because of Iruri. have yall seen that vlog where jaehyun, taesan, and leehan were making a lunch box for woonhak for his csat exam and they didn't have proper tupperware ... well it wasn't a problem because iruri has a whole dedicated cabinet for her precious containers. honestly that kitchen wasn't big enough for all of her equipment, so she actually bought extra storage and an extra mini fridge.

ᯓ she constantly travels between dorms because she uses the other dorms fridge space and kitchen as well. Basically every day they'll alternate between dorms. they sometimes cant eat together, so iruri will prepare a whole tray of food for the 3 members in the other dorm, and leave it on their table.

ᯓ so jaehyun, leehan, woonhak, and iruri share a dorm in the lower level, while sungho, riwoo and taesan share the upper level dorm. sungho and iruri are the sole reason those dorms aren't a health hazard.

ᯓ sungho shared that, with iruri's first paycheck from her show, she bought both dorms, expensive vacuums, cleaning robots, and air purifiers. which sungho really loved, because those two literally gush over and research cleaning equipment.

ᯓ even though they all have individual rooms, leehan and iruri usually spend time in each others rooms. so usually if the members cant find them, they're probably in the others room. but now that they have separate rooms, leehan moved his tank into his room. and iruri really loves her new kitchen space. she specifically requested a dorm with a bigger kitchen.

ᯓ even though both of them are extroverted, and iruri is known for her wacky energy— with leehan, she becomes more mellow. usually allowing him to lead, meaning he's the yapper and she's the listener. usually happens when she's cooking. iruri is used to the noisy restaurant atmosphere so she needs some noise as she cooks. and leehan is there to occupy the silence with his fish facts. and she loves every second, she's actively listening okay—she'll actually stop cooking if he stops talking, 'why did u stop? keep going' 'arent you bored of hearing me talk?' of course she's not. she'll probably never be bored of listening to him.

ᯓ leehan is also her designated taste tester, he gets the first bite out of everyone. she'll feed him a bite, ask if its ok, and he'll give her a nod and temple kiss as a reply before setting out the bowls for the members.

ᯓ also, iruri only calls him leehan if the cameras on, otherwise she'll always call him donghyun. but occasionally she will slip up, and won't notice— but he does, he'll chuckle and his eyes just soften. he loves that she calls him donghyun instead, and that she literally fights herself on camera—to say leehan instead. he actually calls her by her name too but without any honorifics, since they're dating. but on camera he'll call her noona.

ᯓ taesan and woonhak sometimes just say noona since she's their only noona, but the members usually call her by a shorten nickname since her name is quite long. woonhak and taesan call her i-ru noona or just noona. the 03 liners will call her simply ru-i-ah or i-ru. leehan however, besides the regular nickname couples use, uses ruri-ah (huu imagine his voice saying it super soft and cute), iruri also shortens donghyun into donghyu or hyunie, otherwise they use the normal jagiya or jagi

ᯓ during a game, leehan recognizes her hand the quickest, as he said that she has some calluses from cooking, but her hands are always really cold and soft.

ᯓ and although their relationship is a secret, they are heavily shipped together by onedoor. as leehan cannot hide his facial expressions, specifically the look in his eyes when he stares at her. and he stares at her alot. there are just complications and tiktoks of him just staring at her and keeping eye contact with her—she is always the first to break though. they also usually gravitate towards each other. and onedoor have also noticed that leehan is always seen holding her stuff, opening things for her—acts of service. onedoors also notice that compared to how the other members hug and how leehan usually hugs the members, only with her—is his hand placed a little lower than others. usually the members hands are on her back, but leehan's hands always somehow end up on her waist instead—instinct perhaps. his love language is (probably) acts of service and physical touch. cuz leehan has a habit of absentmindedly reaching for her hands, and sometimes it happens while their being filmed. the fans always catch it tho~ they also catch leehan lowkey flirt with her, like the slowly putting his arm behind her, or tucking her hair away, holding her hair back as she eats, adjusts her clothing, hand hovering on the small of her waist when she wears heels, him fidgeting with her hands—tracing the small calleouses, chin hovering above her shoulder (otherwise would just rest his chin there but is aware of the camera) when they are monitoring their performance, and the list goes on.

ᯓ the members tease leehan more so than they do iruri cuz she literally isn't fazed, so they'll openly flirt with her—holding her hand or hug her infront of him to see his reaction. and its visibly obvious he's irked by it, smile faded, the look in his eyes shifted, and eyes flickering between them. they'll nudge each other to point out his jealousy.

ᯓ also they are a very popular ship so the company actually promotes them together (knowing their relationship). Zico doesn't ban them from dating but he is against it since he dated when he was an idol and he just prefers them not to. but what can he do? it would be worse if he made them breakup

ᯓ yall wanna know something cute? all of them are c-section babies. yep all of them. iruri was a c-section baby too. and on the subject of that, she lost her mother during birth. actually she was a premature emergency c-section baby, her mother had got into an accident and they had to emergency save iruri, and she was born prematurely.

ᯓ iruri is the oldest so she is by default the one who usually takes care of them. she also usually has the final say in something, mostly that just means she'll use her 'oldest/noona' card on them to control them when they're all being a little too excited. 'no one loves boynextdoor like iruri does'

ᯓ during the babysitting what door or any of the babysitting episodes, or whenever iruri interacts with kids and babies—fans actually notice that she treats woonhak the same way as she treats the kids.
