for the past 13 (i think) days a group of afghan refugees had been held hostage (!) on the polish-belarusian border.

belarusian border patrol is pushing them to move into poland's territory. polish border patrol, on the other hand, refuses to let them in because "they're protecting poland from lukashenko's provocations".

the problem is - the refugees had expressed their need for assistance, which in theory obliges poland to offer said assistance. but that's only in theory, because so far - no official help had been offered. the refugees are denied medical assistance, food, water, legal help, and are currently surrounded by border patrol members and cops separating them from the outside world.

many people have gathered nearby in an attempt to help - lawyers. translators. activists. medics. at least 1 politician have tried to breach the line using his legal immunity as a defense in order to bring some supplies to the refugees, but with little luck.

this is inhumane, and i hope every person directly involved in this abhorrent treatment of refugees either lives out the rest of their life in deep shame, or just dies.
