Just gonna slide in to say that feminine women being their authentic selves and simply presenting in a way that makes them comfortable isn’t “upholding heteronormativity.”

It’s not upholding anything. I also don’t appreciate how frequently bisexual and lesbian women throw straight women under the bus.

You can defend your presentation without coming up with convoluted reasons why your feminine presentation is okay, but the presentation of feminine straight women is not.

Expression is expression is expression. Feminine women deserve basic respect and deserve to be comfortable dressing and behaving in the way that is most authentic to them without being unfairly criticized.

Heteronormativity is intentional and malicious. It’s othering. There’s nothing heteronormative about simply existing, given you are genuinely happy.

Being bisexual is a privilege even if you disagree because you get to disguise you sexuality so easily that you can avoid homophobia by just sayin "oh here's my boyfriend or husband" or whatever. Don't fucking tell actual queer people how they should identify or feel about their sexual identity and how they link that to their personality. You have no fucking right.

Disguising your sexual orientation isn’t a privilege. Saying so means that gay people who haven’t come out yet are also privileged. Being in the closet or hiding your sexual orientation isn’t a privilege. And I am an actual “queer” (ew, take your slur elsewhere) person. 

No one is exempt from criticism and I sure as hell am going to call out people who help create stereotypes by falsely equating their sexual orientation with their personality or try to convince people that not being straight is somehow superior.

That same thinking, the idea that sexual orientation influences your personality, is what leads to stereotypes. It’s why gay men are labelled as feminine, lesbians are labelled as butch, and bisexuals are labelled as uncommitted sluts.

i feel awkward about my bisexuality because i don't feel the same sexual attraction towards men as i do with women. i mean there's a preference towards women but i still like men i just find the sexual attraction awkward. i dunno it's just weird to feel like this

There’s nothing to feel awkward about it! But I know that doesn’t mean much because you can’t control how you feel.

If you’re a man it may just because it’s a lot easier to “learn” how to interact romantically with the opposite sex than the same sex. I had similar issues when I was younger and first began being around other women who love women. I knew how to kiss and hold hands and do it all with guys, and even though there isn’t really a difference and I was attracted to them, I still felt awkward. I felt like I had to relearn everything even though I didn’t actually need to. I just didn’t see a lot of examples of women who love women and for whatever reason thought it would (or should) be different.

If you’re a woman then it could be a number of different things and I honestly can’t think of any off the top of my head. I’ll give it some thought, so If you are a woman just message me again.

Humans are complicated! Sometimes it takes a while to sort through the awkwardness and weirdness.

1/2 I'm in your ask box with lesbian PB shit, AGAIN. So there was a post in AT amino about how both PB and Marceline are bi, and there this was this comment: "Yes, she was a child again. 12? Not everybody knows they're lgbt+ as a kid/tween. She lost that attraction once she was older again. It can also be argued she only used him to return to normal". Just holy fucking shit.

2/2 And after I told that person how kids can be LGBT and that sexuality doesn't change with age, they said: lEsBiAnS cAn ThInK tHeY'E iN lOvE wItH mEn" and changed my definition of lesbian from "women who only attracted to women" to "non-men attracted to non-men*". And they in the end added: "and the feeling was friendship. Thank you for coming to my TED talk". I was at my fucking limit so I gave up and blocked them, didn't want to continue that.

That's annoying. I know some people hate when others say this, but sometimes it needs to be said: they're fictional characters. We could argue about what their "real" sexual orientation is all day. I think the easiest and most obvious answer is that she is bisexual.

Compulsive heterosexuality is a thing. But I also know women who thought they were lesbians, thought the men they dated were just due to comphet, but realized later they've been bisexual this entire time. It can go on forever. Even with historical people, we often don't know the true answer because life is complicated and we can't read anyone's mind. We don't know if their sexual orientation was straight forward their entire life, if they secretly were gay or bisexual, how accurate the words they were using at the time were to their actual sexual orientation.

I think trying to get so meta about something like this in children's fiction especially is unnecessary. And then there's the context of Adventure Time. Fictional characters don't live in our world. Comphet isn't really discussed--the culture and morals of the world are completely different; comphet might not even exist.

But again the argument is stupid and in cases like this I think what's the easiest and most obvious answer is best. PB and Marceline are bisexual. Also lesbians are women. Non-women cannot be lesbians.

thanks a lot! that's how i feel. it's very good to know i'm not just being weird about this. fyi i'm a man and it's the struggle of trying to apply what i find attractive about women onto men. thanks for the help appreciated
