I think the worse for Davos Seaworth would have been to start by the name of Meereenese nobility. Or basically, remember who is who in Dance.

AAR theory

If Stannis is Azor, then it would be a good surprise. Is like he seems unlikely to be, but it would be a surprise if he ends up being AAR.

If he is, then I think Shireen is the first everyone would think could be his Nissa Nissa, and I have to say I agreed to that till I did some rereading. Though always in the back of my head, I thought Melisandre could be his Nissa Nissa. I think it would represent a big irony that the woman who led him to his destiny, ends up dying for his cause. I like it, and it has a good twist in the story. But like I said, after I did my second read I started thinking that Davos is a most likely candidate for the role. Stannis respects him, I might say he loves him, and Davos represents in a big way what Stannis is about, not to mention he's one of his most faithful followers and friend.

So in my list for possible candidates:

Davos: with 57% of the chances

Melisandre: with 32% of the chances

Selise or Shireen: 11% of the chances
