On the surface, it's funny that show!Jon threatens to kill Littlefinger "himself" like it's some special thing when he routinely passes the sentence and swings the sword like his father uncle taught him to. On another level, it reflects how, even after all the killing he's done, taking a life still carries weight for Jon.
But also, I think Jon might feel that if he did kill Littlefinger, it wouldn't be the "right" way or maybe even for the "right" reasons (protecting Sansa is reason enough for me but probably wouldn't be for some of Jon's bannermen). He'd just snap and do it.
