I know this is neither the time, or place, but can we talk about the fact that Jack Gleeson is awesome? (I have dibs.)

It’s always the time and the place to talk about Jack!

I really like Jack’s acting, to the point that I think he gave dimension to a one-dimensional character, even when the producers try really hard to make you hate Joffrey (by adding scenes with the prostitutes, for example). Like there was need for it or one doesn’t have enough reasons to hate Joffrey. A character like Joffrey is there to make you hate him, that’s why it’s kind of stupid to read comments of people saying “I REALLY HATE JOFFREY!!1”, well duh, you are supposed to! I guess even then I don’t hate him as much. Yes, Jack does exactly what he’s supposed to do with his role, he makes you hate Joffrey -even without the added scenes-, but somehow I can’t bring myself to have this irrational hatred for him because I’m so fascinated with Jack’s performance. Like I said, he adds dimension and layers to the role, even when the producers seem keen on “making you hate him”. And I definitely think it’s not an easy role to play, even if it does seem that way. Because he could have easily fell in the cliche, he could have easily overdone it, he could have easily become a caricature, or play him in a very cartoonish way. Neither of those things he did. And it just shows you how good he is, and how much he worked on the role. If anyone deserves a big recognition, nomination, and more praise, that’s Jack! And even when he’s not getting it, he doesn’t care and continues to do his job perfectly. He definitely has potential to go far in his career, and get work after the show. And if he decides to quit acting and do something else with his life, then that’s so respectable too.

Have you stop to consider that this is the season in which the show will lose two of its best actors (Dance and Gleeson)?

Yes, I actually have! The other day I was riding the bus, and all the sudden it got into my head. And I just said to myself “nooo, what will make me watch this show after this season?! where am I gonna get the joy of watching good acting in this show?! noooo!!”. Needless to say that thought made me sad, really sad. I’m definitely gonna miss both actors, and I think the show will miss that acting quality as well. First Michelle as Cat, now Jack and Charles!!

To your second question, I think I would have to go with Charles Dance and Jack Gleeson. I think the books didn’t present their characters with enough depth, and the actors were not only able to give them that (even if the script demanded more than the books), but they also added different dimensions to their book one-dimensional characters. There’s definitely a great touch they add to their performances, that it’s something very personal and particular of them. And if the characters had been played by different actors, that particularity wouldn’t had been there.

Do you think Jack Gleeson should be given more credit as an actor because he plays a character so drastically different from him whereas Peter Dinklage plays a character who is quite similar to him personality-wise?

hmmm. Good point.

Yes. Many actors usually make a career based on their ability to use their personality as the trademark of their characters. I think is arguable whether they play the characters greatly, or they play themselves over and over again. In some cases, it does work, like RDJ in Iron Man, other times it just becomes too much, and they exhaust people with their gimmicks.

I think Dinklage’s strong suit is the comical side of Tyrion, and a certain part of his wits. Dinklage himself seems to have those traits, as well as a certain sarcastic tactic, that goes well with the character. The other parts of the role, are not so easy for him, and he has given a sub-par performance when he hasn’t had the chance to use his personal traits.

Gleeson seems completely different from his character, and basically yeah, he is acting. He does his job properly, and exceeds the expectations.

There’s definitely something there to be said. So, great point.

I thought about Jack, and character changes aside, he does an amazing job. He's an amazing Joffrey, but Idk why I wasn't eager to put him on the list. Perhaps I need to refresh my memory with one of his scenes.

He's certainly amazing, and has done pretty damn good from the get go. I just don't know...

Which actors and actresses do you think performed the best in spite of having the worst and most terrible material? One scene that comes to mind is Catelyn's lament for Jon. OOC beyond believe, but damn convincing. For me there's also Joffrey's Ramsey-fication (by the way you hit the nail on the head on why I hated it), but Gleeson does such a fantastic job I can't help but be too busy hating him to facepalm at the ridiculous writing.

Agree in both cases. And probably that’s where the list ends. In a different range, would add Tobias Menzies, even though his character hasn’t changed that much, but the relationships he’s got have. And Iain Glen whose material sometimes seems reduced compared to some events in which his character had big importance, and they were not showed in this season.

… hmmm… I don’t know how to choose one.

Conleth Hill maybe, or Jack Gleeson, or Charles Dance. I can’t decide really, there are many actors and actresses doing a good job, and that have never disappointed.

Jack Gleeson is so perfect!!! That scene between him and Cersei was brillant, he plays spoilt child prefectly. But then only with Margaery, dear god, I just rewatched it and even his hands are acting (you can see how uncomfortably he fiddles, making him looks so nervous and almost childish) he shows an honest emotion there, like it is sexual and weird (if Ramsay is anything like that (x10)) but he also shows Joffery as an unexperianced boy, dear god, I could write meta about Jack's Joffery.

PLEASE DO THAT FOR ME!!

I love his performance! I love that you described exactly what I feel about it!

He’s perfect for the role! That’s why sometimes I get so annoyed when people say “I can’t wait for Joffrey to die”. YES, YOU CAN! Do you not see that Jack is one of the best actors on the show?! He needs to stick around for as long as he can, cause he’s great at what he does.

I want a nomination for him!
