she finished up wiping off the counters, throwing the rag quickly into the laundry room to keep it out of sight. jj was generally a pretty neat person yet the fact that her ex was about to be entering her home for the first time had her on edge. in most cases, jamie’s opinions didn’t matter to her, but this was his daughter’s new home and she felt like it’d have to be approved by him for some reason. though she made sure to light up a candle with a scent he tended to hate but she loved, just because.

hearing a car pull into the driveway, she immediately ran to the door, throwing it open in time to see her beautiful little girl speed out of the car towards her “mommy” her daughter yelled leaping into her arms, “hi my little lamb i missed you” jj spoke from the heart. “i missed you too. daddy’s coming to see my new room today” her child shouted excitedly, prompting JJ to move her eyes from her daughter’s to her father’s as she watched him walk towards them. “welcome” she called out, not unfriendly in anyway, but not exactly welcoming either. they hadn’t had a real conversation face to face in a long while and she wasn’t sure she wanted to.
