@skibrps-blog
Hi busy incubating but I love you guys
And now I need this plot
She shifted in bed, feeling that much colder since he'd left the bed minutes ago. Turning to her side she could hear his mother asking to speak with him in the kitchen. Sighing, she lay her head down, preparing herself for the onslaught if insults. His mother had disregarded their relationship since it began 3 years ago when they'd only been two 17 year olds trying to find their way to happiness. She wasn't rich enough. Wasn't smart enough. Wasn't sweet enough. Wasn't southern enough. Wasn't enough, period. She'd been expecting this rant for weeks since he'd told his mother they'd be moving in together in Savannah, hours away from their families in North Carolina.
"Duke, there's nothing for you there. Your family is here. How are your brothers and I going live when you're out there on your own?" Mrs. Reeves ranted.
"Mama, it's not like I'm going off to war. Clara's got a good thing lined up. She stayed for me after high school. I can study anywhere, she needs to be there for her career. She deserves this after everything." Duke always fought for her. For their relationship.
" Oh come on sweetie, it's not like I'm not sympathetic to her life. Everyone knows the woes of that family and I've dealt with this silly farse of a relationship for years for your sake. But this is too much. You're supposed to be here. Your daddy is rolling over in his grave hearing you trying to leave us. Trying to leave the family's business in peril for her. For some troublemaker."
"Jesus mom, lower your voice. She doesn't deserve this. We don't deserve this."
"I need you Duke. Your brothers need you. If you need her she can stay. Your life work is more important than some design internship. I can't believe you're making this choice. Choosing her over everything we've planned for your life."
"Mom..."
She could hear him comforting his crying mother but she'd heard enough. His family needed him home. Hers desperately wanted her gone. She'd never want him to choose. She loved him, more than her own life, but she was ruining his family. She'd already ruined her own, he'd only hate her if she'd take him away and ruin that family too. As he comforted his mom with hushed whispers she quietly dressed and grabbed her overnight bag that was filled with her things. Writing him a quick note and leaving it on the side table, she silently cried knowing her heart was breaking but it was for the best for him. She placed the promise ring he'd given her for their anniversary on the note " I love you always. I won't make you choose. If it's meant to be, it will be... " she wrote.
She ran to the nearest bus stop, tears across her face, as she left her her heart and soul behind...
He tried calling many times but she never answered. To his texts she simply replied, " I'm Sorry," even as the begging turned to angry ranting. She begged and pleaded with her internship to place her out of the main office for the first 6 months because she knew he'd try to come for her. And over time, the visits and texts and calls slowed down until they now longer came. She wasn't any less heartbroken, but she felt peace knowing he would be ok and move on...
Years later...Cara's internship turned into a blossoming career and now at 26 she ownef her own interior design company on main street Savannah.
Hearing the bell ringing from the front door, she emerges from the back a greet falling from her lips. As she turns the corner her entire body freezes as she stares at a blast from the past .
"Mrs. Reeves" she finally breathes out. For a long time she held anger towards this woman but now seeing her she doesn't know how to feel.
"Hello Cara, may I speak to you briefly?"
Nodding her head, she guides her ex's mother to a back table reserved for clients. Sitting quietly across from the woman who did nothing but degrade and fill her son with reasons to break up with Cara, she just waited. She watched at Mrs. Reeves took a deep breath. "I'm so sorry" she spoke heavily, tears instantly hitting her eyes. "I let a lot of my own issues out on your and Duke's relationship. I've wanted to track you down for awhile."
Cara was shocked. She'd never expect an apology fron this woman and she didn't understand what feelings she was experiencing. "I...Mrs. Reeves forgive me for being blunt, but what the hell is going on? I appreciate the apology but whatever this is, is only opening a wound I've worked hard to mend. Your son ended up with you. You got what you wanted..So why are you here now? Nearly 6 years too late..
Mrs. Reeves looked saddened and tired, yet still determined "my Duke may have stayed with us but he was never the same and I regret every single day the things I said. The things I tried to do. It wasn't fair for me to place my life and business in his hands. I made his life less important than my own and we've worked through it. All except what happened with you"
"Okay" Cara spoke, still unsure of what was going on. So you're trying to make amends, with Duke, by apologizing to me. I hate to break it to you but Duke and I have been over with for a long time. So sure, I forgive you for whatever if thats what you need to hear, but that'svwhere this conversation needs to end"
"In a way, yes, but I'm here to make amends with you for how I treated you and how I handled everything. You were never the problem I treated you as. You were more adult than I was by leaving my son for our family and I can never repay you for that. But I'm hoping with time, I can earn your respect."
"Why now?" She questioned, "are you dying? Is he okay?"
"I'm well dear. Physically he's fine. But he hides everything else from me and he acts happy but he's never forgotten you...I know you have your own business going which is extraordinary, but I'm asking you to come home."
"What?!" She practically yells bfore shaking her head. Hearing the words home hit her harder than she imagined. "I am home. You need to let things go and move on. Everyone else has."
"Always stubborn" Mrs. Reeves spoke with a smile, "I won't force it and I know you have your demons in Charlotte, but it's always been where you belong. Many tried to get you out of there but that was wrong. You both claim to have moved on but that's not true." Searching through her purse the older woman pulled out what looked like a ticket folded in a handwritten note, "please think about returning home. I'll see myself out but thank you for allowing me to speak my peace. You should be proud of yourself." With that she left as quickly as she arrived.
Cara was frozen for a second before grabbing the contents of the letter which made her break down while her heart seemed to wake up. Mrs. Reeves had left a ticket home in the letter she'd written to Duke years ago. The highlighted " Ifit's meant to be, it will be" made tears fill her eyes....

a genuine laugh fell from tylers lips, not expecting for the words âi really want to hit herâ to have come out of charlieâs mouth, but then again, he had learned long ago that charlie had changed. she was different, she wasnât his high school charlie anymore. âeh,â he started, âpay no mind to it. itâs almost over.â at least he hoped, he knew it wouldnât be long before collie found something else to try and come for and there went another thing his attorneys had to block. again, he thanked god their marriage hadnât been long term. his psychotic ex would have come for it all, and a prenup she had refused to sign wasnât in the works. the man sighed, bringing his glass up to his lips and taking a swig, allowing for the whiskey to burn his throat just slightly. âyeah, well -â he sighed, not really wanting to talk about his ongoing divorce and only nodding at her request. âof course,â he told her, a small smile on his lips. âalso, iâve been meaning to tell you something that lisa texted me a couple of minutes ago..â he pulled out his phone, showing him the text message from his secratary. âour rooms are booked right beside each other, i donât know if youâd see that as an issue.. âÂ
hearing the words âitâs almost over fall fromâ fall from tylerâs lips had to be the sweetest sound sheâd heard in awhile. when she first found out about baby mccarthy she was gutted. then tyler had kissed her which made her mind confused yet comforted. but now....now it seemed maybe things would become clearer. especially if they were neighbors. liquor, vegas, and tyler. none of that sounded bad at all. heâd broken her heart more than once in the past but she wasnât the same girl she used to be. she looked him in the eyes before smiling, âoh did sheâ she spoke, looking at the text before her, trying not to let her thoughts show. whether she knew it or not, lisa just made this trip so much better. she deserved a fruit and wine basket asap. âhm... i donât see an issue. itâs not like youâre going to try and sneak into my room in the middle of the night to get a glimpse of my nightie are you?â she inquired innocently. leaning closer to him, she put a hand on his bicep, âis it an issue for you?â she asked. the only issue she would have with anything is if she made a move and tyler rejected her.

â perhaps, but i think iâm entitled to a pass. â the young man replied, shrugging his shoulders casually. â after all i wasnât the one to hide an ENTIRE person, up until a tabloid outed me, and no chuck doesnât count. â he quickly interjected with a roll of his eyes, yes he was being petty and yes he was insisting on reminding her that heâd missed the first moments of his daughter life because she decided to make him â that â guy. the cheating was one thing, but heâd never turn his back on his child. â tell you what, iâll drink that cyanide if you stand close to a window. â that way when he collapsed he could push her straight through it, aka a fun and a win for all. â my what? â he exclaimed, a confused look over taking his features, hazel eyes narrowing in the blondeâs direction. â youâre the one thatâs going to LIVE here⊠my â standards â really donât matter much in the grand scheme of things. â did they? he was confused, and truth be told he thought this little excursion into her place was simply to see his daughterâs new room, not a judgement of his exeâs ability to provide. which he wouldnât do in the first place? who was he chuck? â but sure, i mean if it makes you feel better, i approve. â
âOf course you would think you deserve thatâ she replied with a head shake in his direction. yes she hid their child but in her defense, they werenât even close to on speaking terms and the one time she tried to contact Jamie she was redirected through some assistant of his agent. âChuck was the only one telling me I should tell you, so you may wanna lay off himâ jenny had a soft spot for the man she formed an unlikely friendship and then writing partnership with. âstay here long enough and iâll jump out the window gladlyâ she mumbled walking away from him a bit for space. seeing confusion on his face she rolled her eyes. he may not have realized it but she could see the judgment rolling off of him every single time they seen one another since finding out about their daughter. âwell you always have something to say about everything. figured giving you some say in the place your daughter was living would be like an olive branchâ maybe...not likely. for two people who grew up as friends, they didnât know one another. âlook, i get that we donât get along. weâve both done some fucked up things...iâve apologized a thousand times even though I know you donât accept but...â she paused trying to find the words, âI brought her back here for you. so you could be close to her. this is me trying to act like an adult. and if you donât think we can interact like adults, Iâll have someone meet you to pick Jules up and drop her off.â

spring break, not a concept she was particularly excited for â not being able to go home made the entire experience pointless for her. even when her father told her that she could pick any destination she wanted, she had every plane at her disposal. but all she wanted was her family, to see her siblings and most importantly her mother. had they grown taller? where they doing well in school? thirty minute face-time conversations were not enough. a heavy sigh slipped her lips as she reached for her books, saying goodbye to a few of her classmates as she walked out the door only to be met with a familiar face. â are you sure TRUSTING me to save you is a good idea? â she playfully questioned, as she approached him. â while iâm not against you playing damsel â ÂżquiĂ©n dice quĂ© no serĂ© yo la que te aviente por la ventana? âshe finished with a sweet smile.  â beauty is dangerous after all no? â
trusting her was not a concept that he would ever consider seriously but she didnât have to know that. âsureâ he said on a shrug, smiling at her, âweâre not near any windows luckily.â she really was a beautiful woman, he could admit that. even if this was just a job, her beauty was a perk. he lead her towards the center of campus, not exactly sure where they were headed. âHave any plans for Spring Break? Going to see family?â he knew the answer to that question, but figured it would be the right thing to ask at this point. he was about to tell her his made up plans when he heard tires squealing in their direction, making his head swivel in that direction putting him on alert.

the man smirked at charlieâs offer, âas great as that sounds right now â â he shook his head, calling their attendant over and asking her for 2 glasses of whiskey before his eyes met those of charlieâs again. âi mean â how well can a divorce ever go, you know?â he chuckled lightly, shaking his head briefly before licking his lips and releasing a sigh. âi mean, iâm sure if your ex-wife wasnât a fucking psycho itâd go better but my attorneys say they got it down.â tyler still didnât understand how someone faked a pregnancy, how someone was able to use the life of a child to try and make sure the other person stays with them. of course, you had to collies level of psycho to make that happen. âshe wants equitable distribution but thereâs literally nothing in the mccarthy enterprise that could ever be hers. we werenât married that long for her to deserve equitable distribution anyway.â as he finished, the stewardess came to them with drinks, handing both charlie and tyler their glasses and serving them a glass of jim bean bourbon with ice. the man took his glass and lifted it up, a small âcheersâ falling from his lips before bringing the glass to his lips. âanyway, excited for vegas?â
charlie smiled at tylerâs smirk completely understanding where the man was coming from. it wasnât the time nor place to get drunk. meeting his eyes she shrugged, âthatâs a good point. not exactly something that goes well even if it doesâ she really felt for tyler in the situation he was in. a crazy ex wife trying to take over your familyâs company after faking being pregnant isnât the easiest thing to deal with. âi really want to hit herâ charlie confessed honestly. for the past ways she treated charlie and the current way she treated not only her but also tyler. âi know i shouldnât but it would be so nice to.â she shook her head as she listened to tyler. âsheâs crazy if she thinks she can get anything. iâm glad youâve got a good team on your side to fight the crazy.â when the stewardess returned with their drinks she smiled, she really needed something to take the edge off. after taking a sip she smiled widely, âiâm really excited. iâve actually never beenâ she admitted. âyouâll have to show me around.â

it wasnât that he didnât want to be here â or well it was, but the young man wasnât going to voice that particular concern out loud, not when his daughter pleaded with him and as his girlfriend said what were â five â minutes? he could stand in a room with jenny for five minutes. so heâd taken a few steps inside, looking around before allowing hazel eyes to meet the dark of hers. the sinking feeling he always felt around her coming back as it usually did. which wasnât to say that he felt guilty anymore, truth be told jamie was happy. he couldnât bring himself to regret his relationship with maddie, regardless of how it started. besides it wasnât like the blonde in front of him was innocent either. clearing his throat he sighed, his attention focusing on his little girl for a moment before looking back at her mother. â seems to be that she didnât INHERIT your taste for secrets. â he added with a roll of his shoulders. â told me about her â new â room right away. â was that petty? probably, but did he care? no. â guess that whole like mother, like daughter concept⊠probably did skip a generation after all. â
Her first feelings when she saw jamie nowadays was annoyance mixed with some sort of longing. she didnât want him back by any means because clearly the two of them together was just a hot mess.but at one point they had an amazing friendship and that was what she missed about him the most. she never talked ill of him in front of her daughter. she knew what it was like growing up with a single parent who hated the other parent; and she tried her best not to let the past repeat itself. but when he spoke, she instantly wanted to stab him and any thoughts of friendship deleted from her mind. she dropped her smile immediately, âwow, it only took 30 seconds for that to come out. must be a new recordâ she responded. âbut since you mentioned it youâre pretty good with secrets too if i remember correctly. and lying. oh and cheating. not a good look dad, three strikes against you. let;s hope those traits skipped herâ if he wanted to be petty, so could she. she glared at him as she stepped further into the house. âcan I offer you a drink? soda, tea, cyanide?â she asked, before speaking again âwelcome to the house, by the wayâ she said motioning around her. âhope itâs up to your standards.â sheâd moved home hoping that her daughter could build a relationship with her father and spend more time with him.she was almost trying to make amends for keeping him out of her life when she was first born. but having jamie around her now almost made her regret coming home at all.

he paced back and forth along the corridor of the college campus he was supposed to be attending class in. instead he was awaiting Emilia to leave her class so he could casually bump into her. it had been a few months since he first made contact with the girl, but heâd managed to slowly work his way into her life as a study buddy if not an almost friend. theyâd studied together a few times and met at the coffee shop that theyâd once ditched her guards at more than a few times. neither of them were free with details on their backgrounds, a thing that jay hated to admit bothered him, especially with his bosses breathing down his neck to get results. he found himself actually liking her company more than just using her for information, which twisted him up a bit. this was a job and he needed to remember that. with spring break approaching he knew her familyâs business would be at their best with the lower level dealers feeding the spring breakers of the world with high end merchandise. he needed to stop it. he heard the door to her class open and looked up, placing a breathtaking smile on his face as she walked out. he sent her a wink before sidling up next to her, âgood morning beautifulâ he greeted her with his standard greeting, âcare to save me from jumping off this building? iâm slowly dying of boredom in my classes.â
callowaydcisyâ:
the man sat on the chair of the private jet comfortably while remaining concentrated on the e-mails in front of him. the man read and re-read the e-mail in front of him containing news about his divorce. his attorney e-mailed him that collie â as it was assumed â wanted equitable distribution of their assets and tyler was adamant in his disagreement. there was nothing of his that had ever or would ever belong to collie. nothing that she partook in when it came to the way his oil rigs functioned. tyler rubbed his chin with his hand before looking out the window, truth be told he never expected for a marriage with his best friend to end this way â wanting to tear the other apart. a recognizable voice brought him out of his thoughts, he chuckled releasing a sigh of exhaustion. âwell, you know me, rocking and rolling ââ he laughed, quoting danny zuco from grease. the man rubbed his eyes with the tip of his fingers before pinching the bridge of his nose. âat this point, i wish it was work. iâve actually spent the last 10 minutes dealing with collieâs attorneys.â the man shook his head, closing his laptop and leaning back on the chair. âi need a drink. want a drink?âÂ
looking at him up close he was still gorgeous, but she could also see how tired he was.heavy was the head carrying the crown. she couldnât help but giggle at his grease reference, playfully rolling her eyes at him, âthatâs most definitely youâ she agreed, watching the man before her try to wipe away the exhaustion on his face. her smile dropped a bit at the mention of collie. she always seemed to darken charlieâs mood no matter what was happening, especially now that tyler and her were involved in their own legal battle. âi could use a drinkâ she accepted, looking him over. âlooks like you need more than a drinkâ she stated, knocking her leg against his. âmaybe the whole bottle...or a massageâ was she offering? for him, always. but mostly she just wanted him more relaxed and happy. not exhausted from dealing with a multi-million dollar company and a banshee of an ex. âeverything going ok with...all that?â she dare not say the womanâs name, fearing saying it would make her appear like beetlejuice.
pambesleysâ:
" i mean itâs not like iâm CLOSED off to the idea of someone paying for my dinner. â she paused, sighing for a second. â itâs everything that comes after you know? â she didnât want to get anyone else â which granted she knew there would come a time when she would want to but like sawyer said, right now she was hurt. as much as natalie hated to admit it, there was a reason why she was making things difficult not only for herself but for cj as well. her heart was still there with him, and part of her didnât think sheâd ever get back. â besides most of them are ready to jump out a window once you say the words â mom and five year old â which hey, iâm not complaining. â she snorted, although there was one particular guy whoâd began to ask questions about how old she was and if she lied on her profile. which truth be told, she didnât even know what was on it. thena made the dates, she showed up and that was that. â you know i keep trying to get them to kick jamie, when i say the word â cookie â but itâs no good. weâve given birth to angels, unfortunately. â
âsomeone paying for any of my meals is a good idea but itâs everything elseâ she agreed with nat. everything else or in some cases everyone else seemed to be the issue with her relationships. part of jj wanted the happy ending that she often sang about but another part of her was having trouble believing it even existed for her. she knew nat would get that happy ending, as would most of her friends, but she wasnât sure for her it was meant to be. âoh yeah! mention a kid and itâs worse than having a disease! sometimes itâs a great excuse to leave a horrible date though...oh my daughter is sick gotta run..easy peasy.â she laughed thinking about how her daughter must think Nat was crazy for wanting to kick her father. it would be nice to see it, but doubtful it would happen, âyeah theyâre both way better kids than I am as an adult. you donât even hae to say cookie and I can kick him. that would make both of us feel betterâ she joked.
@callowaydcisy-
months and months had come and gone yet charlie still held the same job that she once swore she would leave. though she had to admit, now things were looking a lot better considering she was on board the businessâs private jet with only a few other coworkers. she had been working independently on the tablet in front of her since the flight started but she couldnât focus on it any longer. standing from her set, she slowly moved toward the front of the plane where tyler had been sitting the entire time. earlier, sheâd watched as he talked to a few board members and then heard him arguing on his phone for a good bit, but now it seemed he was free.he was always a sight to see but in his powerful position at work he was even hotter. she made her way around his seat to the open window spot next to him. without asking, she lowered herself into it, slowly crossing her legs at the ankle and lifting her eyes to meet his, âyouâre quite the busy executiveâ she flirted with a smile.
