6. “Baby, is something wrong?” “Nothing, I was just thinking how we don’t have a song”
Kai strumed away on his guitar as Kane leaned his head on his shoulder. Kai stopped playing abruptly when he noticed his boyfriend was in a trance of sorts.
“Babe, you good? ”
Kane blinked and jolted a bit, “Huh?”
Kai scrunched his eye brows, “You seem out of it. Are you okay?”
“Oh, yeah i’m good. It’s just...” He trailed off.
“It’s just what?”
Kane rubs the back of his neck, “It’s nothing really it’s just- You know how every couple has like a song. Like a song they really connect with or whatever.”
“Well yeah sure.”
“Okay what’s ours?”
Kai looked at him blankly before tilting his head in thought, “I... don’t know.”
“That’s because we don’t have one! Anyway, that’s all it was.”
Kane returned his head to it’s place on Kai’s shoulder and turned on the tv. Kai on the other hand remained deep in thought. “We don’t have a song huh...” He mumbled to himself.

So for the next week Kai holed himself up in his studio, listening to every love song playlist in existence. He listened through every decade, from pop to rock, from Taylor Swift to Celine Dion, and yet, nothing. He ran his hand through his hair and sighed, “How in the hell do none of these work.” And then it hit him. He sat up abruptly in his chair, “That’s it!”

Kane beamed up at the stage, his foot anxiously tapping against the floor, “I can’t wait to see what Kai decided to sing for the spring show case!”
“I bet you $25 it’s something by Panic! At the Disco.” Shikana replied.
Before Kane could reply the mc walked out on stage, “And finally we have our final performer of the night!”
Kane grinned, “It’s time!”
“Everyone put your hands together for Kai!”
Kane clapped and whistled earning him a nudge from Shikana.
Kai walked out on stage, his guitar slung over his shoulder. He walked up to the microphone and gave it a test tap before speaking, “I hope everyone enjoyed the showcase so far. I’m gonna wrap it up by performing an original song I wrote. I wrote it because no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t quite find a song that fit the way I feel about my boyfriend. So this ones for him.”
Kane looked up in awe, his eyes teary from the first note. His eyes became more glassy with each word sung. Shikana gave his shoulder a reassuring squeeze. “I can’t believe he really wrote a whole song for us... “Kane said to himself.
As the song ended the two looked at each other and smiled. Kane beamed with pride standing up and clapping, the rest of the audience following suit.

Kane ran into Kai’s rms as they met him outside the auditorium, giving him a big kiss on the cheek.
Kai chuckled, “I take it you liked it then?”
Kane grinned, “Hell yeah I did! Now where’s the album dedicated to me?”
“We’ll get there one day. For now just be happy with the song okay?”

I dont actually like write anything besides script most of the time (which is why i held off on tis for so long) but here’s something I started and have been thinking of getting back to! Idk if this will even make it into the final script but:
Kai didn’t quite remember how this happened. Whenever he laid in bed, Kane ran amok in his mind (which was very on-brand for him). He couldn’t quite pinpoint the time he came into his life. It was like he had always been there, from the start. Whenever he looked over his shoulder Kane was already there following close behind, ready to catch him if he fell. So it just made sense. They just made sense.
“No no no no.” Kai shook his head, trying to force the thoughts out of his head.
Kane was his friend. It would never be more than that and he would just have to live with that.
He groaned, rubbing the back of his neck, “Yeah… I'll just deal with it.”
