It's been a hot minute since I've read newsies fanfics or any other fic for that matter but lately I've been thinking about a couple fics where Spot joins the US military which is beyond funny to me. Maybe Broadway Spot would do that but we all know the true Spot (Gabe Damon) would be a draft dodger 100%. He'd see a guy in military uniform and immediately start throwing things.

Christine doesn’t actually trust 3r1n right now, and not just because she’s lived in Tordan’s mansion for 9 years and seen SO much that she’d rather leave memories behind (despite REALLY good rent…)

It’s that Christine’s catching strange and bad Bill-Cipher like vibes from Tomlin’s musical rival who happens to be oh-so-nice at the moment…

If 3r1n wants to become Christine’s ally in getting the truth out to Edmund and staying alive from the clutches of Tordan’s VERY MUCH LOOSE AND HIDDEN MURDERER, she’ll have to prove that she’s on the tenant’s side.

um hey so i really like your writing so i just wanted to ask for advice — i used to write a lot but over the past year or so i've started getting worse and worse writers block and i'm losing self confidence in my writing. what do i do?

hi love! ok so i can’t promise that my advice is like, remotely good? but this is what usually works for me when i have writers block and i hope it helps some!

write! i know that doesn’t really make sense but like, just write anything! anything at all! doesn’t matter what’s it about. maybe you describe the table that’s in front of you. and it’s okay if it’s not up to your standards for how your writing should be! it’s a first draft, first drafts are allowed to be shitty! write a couple hundred words as frequently as you can, and just let yourself get back into the flow of things

read! reading really helps develop writing style and influence vocab and all that, and you might find yourself getting inspired if it’s a text you really enjoy/consider interesting!

find a friend who’s willing to read your work! even if they aren’t editing it/very well versed in writing style & grammatical detail, it’s always good to have someone who’s willing to cheerlead for you and have your back! if you don’t know anyone you’d want or feel comfortable with reading your work, feel free to come to me again bc i’d be glad to help, or go through the beta reader tag on tumblr and you might find someone willing to help!

look at prompts! writing prompts have always given me a hand sometimes, and even if what you come up with isn’t absolutely perfect, it’s the practice that matters most honestly

fill out character sheets/look at character ideas! writing about how my characters would react to specific questions or situations has always helped me develop them more and get a better hand on their characterization, and filling in the little details on their backstory usually helps me get inspired. works for ocs or canon characters for a fandom!

Spring quarter starts for me this Monday BUT I think I'll actually be able to write during the quarter for once! I finally applied for disability accomodations (I had accommodations at my last school but thought I could maybe get by now without them - I could not) and one of the accommodations I was granted was the ability to take a reduced credit load and still receive financial aid! So I'm only taking two classes this quarter, which should give me more free time and also lower stress levels. Also, one of my classes is a creative writing class (specifically focused on prose) so I'm already going to be in the writing groove, probably. I'm hoping to get chapter 11 out before Monday -- I'm out of town visiting grandparents right now and was planning to write during my trip but have found it difficult to write here... still, I get home tomorrow and I'm sure I can finish the chapter over the weekend -- but the last two or so chapters after that may take a bit longer.

As soon as I finish JTSYS I have to decide if I'm gonna write my guardian angel au whump fic immediately or wait on it a bit and instead write my prince/knight au fic (which will be only a oneshot or maybe two chapters at most). Either way, my next fic will also be Soriku unless something drastic happens (like I start thinking about Final Fantasy 7 or Goro Majima too much again).
