today looks to be the moment of truth..! got called by hr and asked to come in early to talk. aight. let's go. i promise you i can provide multiple sources that i'm not making this up, that i've been living as nb for many many years (4.5 rn i think), that this is indeed what i initially told you, that i've been trying to compromise [but you were being difficult so], that the tlc is backing me up go ahead and call them

i mean, just. did you want to talk about intersectionality. or about how every trans org ever super focuses on resources for trans women (as they should) but struggles to remember to tack on "genderqueer and gender non-conforming" in any discussion and certainly doesn't speak directly to issues of non-binary or gender-fluid people accessing restrooms or being correctly gendered by employers. or about how reductive and binarist(!) it is to suggest all dfab trans folks experience male privilege because they aren't purely women. (like, can we talk about how identifying as not-woman leads to not experiencing misogyny, an arguable privilege, without casting that into identifying as man and receiving male privilege?) or about how even if binarism is indeed a result of colonialism extinguishing other gender systems, the current society of the U.S. at least is in fact binarist (isn't that what you were arguing, that this western gender system was the one colonized with? doesn't that make it binarist? isn't that your argument? so why not talk about how it is still present and has extended to affect not only indigenous/colonized peoples' gender systems but to affect white/western gender variance as well?).

again it all comes off as seeking cookies from trans women and seeking to feel righteous

and like, absolutely, address misogyny and transmisogyny and trends thereof.  talk about how dfab non-binary folks often have a lot more in common with trans men than with dmab non-binary folks or trans women, in terms of privilege and perhaps of experience.  but can you please remember to disclaim, that this is not always the case, that there are in fact dfab non-binary folks who in no way id as men but who are absolutely not women and to ignore them is intensely cissexist and binarist (cough julia serano. cough) and just because YOU a non-binary dfab person experience male privilege it doesn't mean categorically we all do?

i mean quite honestly i'm just tired of the jostling for "most oppressed" within trans circles and the way it seems to constantly return to "dfab non-binary people face nothing special compared to trans men, certainly not compared to trans women" which. does not feel productive, to me. can we even say what dfab non-binary folks face? can you as one person represent the whole? have sufficient studies been done that you can back up your claims? are analogies of all your friends sufficient? do we really think we already know the """average""" experience, and that it doesn't need to be separated out from that of trans men? what about the nb folks who are constantly out? who are battling to be correctly gendered by their employers? who refuse to use a men's or women's restroom, be it on principle or due to dysphoria or other reasons?

tl;dr i don't think this sort of homogenizing does anyone any good, and to call it fighting transmisogyny is i think incredibly disingenuous.
