Professor Yew is the only official ghost type researcher in Johto, Morty doesn’t have a doctorate and is more of an anthropologist.  

Yew has always had an interest in ghost types, and it seemed like uncharted territory.

However being the first in your field also means being alone. No one really wants to work with him.

He has had a paid internship position open for over a year, not a single application. If you know any aspiring Pokemon researchers looking for a job, send them his way.(Warning: You must be willing to deal with possible possession, disruptions to the space time continuum and working weekends.)
