Cat-lifting tip. Tibs cat book. 1948.
I feel like while up in Space, as Ryland starts getting his memories back, he's just in a constant state of anguish because his brain decided that the brainrot his students kept talking about was more important to remember than like,,, how to tie his shoes.
He's like struggling to tie them and he's hit with the insane whiplash of hearing kids sing like skibidi toilet or something and he can only sit there with tears in his eyes and that's why his shoes stay untied the whole time.
& it’s okay to admit
you weren’t as strong as
you thought you were

so you either don't come out and end up alone and repressed while everyone leaves you behind because you can't get past that one thing about yourself so you can't grow with them
or you do come out and yes you accepted yourself but then that open queerness becomes all you will ever be known for
Hating yourself is harming others. Like, almost always. Even if you don’t mean it to.
Loving yourself enough to take care of yourself and be kind to yourself is what makes you more capable of helping others and doing good.
You’re not going to shame and hate yourself into being a better friend, a better spouse, better parent, better person, better service to the world. That’s done through love and gentleness. I promise.
And I know it’s work! There is no switch to flip that takes you magically from self-hatred, self-denial, insecurity, and depression to self-love, self care, gentleness, and joy! It takes work and, for many people, seeking outside help! But it’s worth it worth it worth it, not just for you, but for everyone around you.
