DanAndPhilCRAFTS | 01.04.2021
Dan: I think that our best - obviously, obviously - OUR best April Fools was DanAndPhilCRAFTS.
Phil: Oh yes.
Dan: I think that in hindsight, as epic and majestic as it was, people might not realise and appreciate how casual and random the first one was. Because we literally woke up, on that day, which for us was like 11 AM. And then we had that moment where we were like, ugh, is everyone on Twitter going to be like: You didn't post it before 12? I don't agree with it. I think it discriminates against sleepy people.
Phil: Yes.
Dan: And also whatever. Who wants to do anything in the morning? Oh, god that's weird.
Phil: No one!
Dan: Like just do whatever you want. And then we were just like, oh, let's, em, let's - and literally we were just like - let's just come, just do a crafts channel. Let's do an ironic crafts channel and then, what was the first one? Squareflakes?
Phil: Squareflakes! The funny thing is about these videos is that they are completely improvised once we start filming.
Dan: Oh, no plans, like literally the entire thing took about 35 minutes.
Phil: So, yeah, the first one-
Dan: And there was no thoughts.
Phil: The first one was fully improvised, and then I think 'cause the third one had a little bit of a story that was like more planned but there was no script. We still were just like saying whatever. But it was just such a funny thing to film.
Dan: I mean the first one was like you went: and I will do this, and I was like, I don't know it sounds like a bad idea. No, let's do it. You just found scissors and a piece of paper.
*joint laughter*
Dan: 'Cause we just had that lying around. We were wearing our pyjamas, we had just woken up, I had my weird, creasy bed hair or whatever, opened the laptop, did it in one take for about three and a half minutes and then I started edit it like, I'm not even going to try, I'm just going to like slap it all together, if I make a mistake, I'm going to leave it in.
Phil: Yeah.
Dan: I'm not going to try, I'm not going to think about funny editing, I'm just going to slap it about. It literally took Phil longer to make the Google account to make the DanAndPhilCRAFTS' YouTube channel than it did for us to film and edit the entire video and upload the whole thing.
Phil: Yeah.
Dan: And then we just posted it. And to think of the legacy that that video had. I mean, this is the thing, right? Nothing in my life is unprepared.
Phil: Yeah.
Dan: My whole problem in life is that everything goes through way too much scrutiny, I'm way too neurotic about what I'm doing, why I'm doing it, who I'm doing it for, etc. DanAndPhilCRAFTS was simply the most chaotic form of pure expression I think I've ever expressed in my life, so out of everything I've ever done, in a way, DanAndPhilCRAFTS, was the most pure and authentic thing I've ever created.
Phil: It was.
Dan: 'Cause it really just happened.
Phil: Yeah, and you get all the props for editing those. The sound effects that you put in them afterward.
Dan: I should not get... I should apologise for those things that I did. So, yeah, I'm sorry everybody.
*Phil giggles*

Mortem had been an undeniable success. Alright, so the whole ‘showing videos of people being murdered’ thing was a bit grisly, but it couldn’t be denied that they had achieved their aim - namely, terrifying people. Uriel’s grand plan was finally playing out before them, just as they had discussed a thousand times before. But now, it was time for the next step in May’s own agenda; rescuing Ky. Ever since she had found out that her sister by all but blood was a member of Famine, she had stood firm in her belief that her appointment hadn’t been one of choice. It couldn’t be. The girl that May had watched grow up was not a criminal, much less a gangster, and the very notion that she would willingly be swallowed into London’s seedy underbelly was one which made her blood ran cold. So instead, she chose to live in denial. But now, finally, she could stand before her and offer her an out, successfully protecting her family just as she always swore she would.
In spite of the knowledge that she was offering more than the Femenias’ ever could or would, May was nervous as she approached Kyung-Soon’s flat, though she was careful not to show it as the door swung open, her voice and expression measured as she calmly greeted her with a quiet “Hi.” Their gazes met. The silence between them ached. “I’m sorry to stop by unannounced, but I had to see you after- well, after the other night. I think it’s safe to say I have some explaining to do.” In flashes, she remembered seeing the confusion on Ky’s face as she looked up at them, Death, and saw her standing among them, maskless in a sea of unfamiliarity. May was now used to the burn of guilt that came each time she thought of everything she had hidden from Ky, but that sting had been a particularly painful one. “Can I please come in? I want to tell you everything.”
