93/100: " Why do I wrap? I grew up seeing women around me "doeking". My mom, grand and aunts. This was either as a form of adornment or to show respect at a wedding or funeral. What I remember most, is my mom´s wrapping. She had a nonchalant way of wrapping, Where you collect both ends of idoek behind your ear. This gave her a very graceful stature. It also made idoek part of her unlike as a costume you put on. When I see Zadie Smith, that is how my mom´s wrapping was. I do not doek as much in winter. But in summer I do, for many reasons: when I want to channel my mom, as a fashion statement, and sometimes to protect my hair. My daughter loves to mimic me as well.
