I'm sorry but the juxtaposition of Colombians excitedly telling people who loved Encanto to try out their famous influential Literature like One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Márquez and some people in the fandom's rabid hatred of others exploring themes of incest is just Weird?

Is it people being very short sighted? Narrow minded?

For those who don't know: Hundred Years of Solitude is a book about an incestuous isolated family from the get go along with other difficult themes. Not exactly a light reading if you're sensitive to these things. But it does have such a nice weaving narrative from what I read so far, once I found the rhythm and understood what's going on. Pretty trippy. Writing style earned that famous stamp.

obv understand why they casted an adult actress for Remedios (as young as she looks) but given that there wasnt a single sexually charged scene with her including her wedding i think they missed out on casting an actual 9 to 13 year old to showcase how incredibly fucked all of that was
