Sorry if you've asked thus before but, how do manifest with OCD?
As someone who thinks they ahe undiagnosed OCD, the idea of your thoughts creating only strengthens my intrusive thoughts and then I get into extremely harmful compulsions. Do you have any tips?
Ty
Hooo boy, I've highkey been avoiding this ask since I got it bc it's been so long since I've figured out how to work with my OCD that I kinda forgot what I do 😭 but I'm gonna try my hardest to explain my daily thought process!! And don't worry about repeating questions or anything like that! I'll answer the same questions as many times as ppl need me to, especially if it's OCD related. :) I also can't completely guarantee that I'll be the best at explaining everything in this post, so PLEASE ask if you have any follow up questions! I'll probably do better with some sort of guidance lmao
I want to start this post off with a disclaimer that in no way am I trying to gain brownie points or paint myself as some sort of "OCD-experience connoisseur" by talking about this. I'm not trying to say that my individual experience has been particularly horrible or worse than others'. I'd actually even go so far as to say that I've always luckily been at the bottom of the spectrum of harmful symptoms, so in no way am I trying to make myself seem like some sort of crazy victim. I'm simply trying to relate my personal experiences to other ppl with the same condition as me to hopefully help somebody. In my personal experience, it took me a while to even accept that I had OCD (ironically, one of my most intense repeating intrusive thoughts was that I was pretending to have OCD for attention lmao. Even though I wasn't even talking to anyone about it.). I think this ultimately led me to assuming that my experience has been more "mild" compared to others, which has made me disconnect from even having OCD in a lot of cases. By the time I realized I actually DO have this disorder, I had already convinced myself that there's no way it could control my life. In my opinion, this has made my experience easier than others I've seen with the same disorder. All this to say, if it seems like I'm acting like dealing with this is "a piece of cake," I GENUINELY do not mean to. I hope my language and explanations can be as serious as they should be and that I do not accidentally make light of smth that is an extreme struggle for ppl (including myself) every day. Please do not think that I think it is easy to deal with this. Please do not think that I think I am "better" at this than others simply bc I've been fortunate enough to have an easier time dealing with this than others. I understand how blessed of a position I am in and all I hope for is to help others to the best of my ability. Thank you.
***I also want to remind you before I start that this is MY way of thinking & the most important thing about manifesting is doing things the way YOU want to!!! If anything I say here disagrees with you, I firmly believe that means you're not meant to do it that way! Please use your own judgement to decide what you WANT to do, and don't force yourself to copy a random stranger on the internet no matter how much you trust their advice!! 🫶🫶

Okay now we can get to the good stuff! I honestly had no clue where to start this post, so ig we can start with the thing that affects me most: intrusive thoughts & getting caught up in language usage. When I started in the loass community, it was HORRIBLE. When you're an OCDer and the first thing this community tells you is, "Your thoughts create your reality!" Your brain has an absolute fucking FIELD DAY with that!!!! Intrusive thoughts start fucking whirring like a chainsaw like it's actually crazy omfg. I would get so triggered & confused by everyone saying every opinion as if it was 100% fact and that ultimately made me get caught up in the language being used (which my brain would latch onto to create intrusive thoughts out of), but the thing I realized you need to understand going into it is that we as humans have limited language to describe things that are happening that are not physical at all. It's kind of like how certain languages have words for things that English doesn't have?? Like I remember when I was younger I once saw somewhere that apparently there's a Japanese word for when sunlight shines through the leaves of a tree. In English we have no word for that! At least not one that's commonly used, otherwise I'd probably know it! So I like to think about spiritual things in this way, too.
The spiritual realm has a language of it's own, and not all of those concepts can be easily translated into human understanding. Humans have a limited capacity for certain concepts. Think about the size of an apple. Now think about the size of a car. Now think about the size of the planet. Now think about the size of the sun. You see how it gets harder to fully grasp the larger the object is? Bc our brains aren't built to handle such large concepts! And that's okay! But this means that things that our spirits can understand, might not be as easily understood by our physical human brains. So a lot of ppl have to dumb down the concepts to fit into our limited human languages!
(This is why I always say it's important to take any form of language off the pedestal when it comes to manifestation. The words you use do not matter, bc language is limited. You can only express so much. Your brain will understand the concept that you're getting at regardless of the words that you use. Don't believe me? Here's an example: Imagine you're asking a friend to grab an object from across the room. You could say, "Hey, can you grab my headphones for me?" OR you could point and say, "Hey, can you hand that to me?" Either way, your message will get across! Your friend will understand what object you're talking about, even if you don't name it. Bc you're both using context clues (you point, your friend looks at the objects in the area you're pointing at & uses their reason to figure out which object makes the most sense for you to be asking for) to understand what you mean. Your brain = your friend.)
All this to say, when ppl say, "Your thoughts create your reality," they don't mean EVERY single thought. It's specifically the thoughts that you choose to have faith in day after day that manifest. Try not to get too caught up in the exact words that ppl use, bc like I said—they only have so many words to use to describe such large concepts. A lot of our language is built to be black-and-white, this way or that way. But these concepts go beyond those limitations, so if a sentence is structured in a certain way that triggers you, try to remind yourself that it's not that cut-throat and there's HELLA wiggle room when it comes to manifestation/shifting. Also keep in mind that there are know-it-alls in every community, and just bc someone is acting like their word/opinion is God, doesn't mean it actually is. I try not to dwell too much on the cockier accounts, and just focus on my own beliefs. :]
I also mentioned this in another post, but you will know when you're choosing a thought vs when a thought is simply passing through your mind. I struggled a lot with intrusive thoughts popping up in my mind & then being followed with ANOTHER intrusive thought of, "That's gonna manifest now regardless of if you want it to bc you thought it." But that's not how manifestation works at all!!! If that was how it worked, the world would be absolute chaos rn. If EVERY thought manifested??? Imagine thinking about seeing a live unicorn and then one pops up in your bedroom right in front of your eyes just bc you thought it. That's the type of world those intrusive thoughts are trying to say we live in 💀 Obviously that's not what it's about. We have millions of thoughts a day, but it's specifically the ones you CHOOSE day after day that manifest. YOU WILL KNOW when you have chosen smth. You can fucking feel it in your body. If it's triggering you?? Intrusive thought. When you CHOOSE a thought, you are thinking those words on purpose (idk what it's like to not have an inner monologue, but it's the same sentiment). Like... What's your favorite color? Did that word just pop up in your head against your will? Or did you purposely choose to say the color's name? Hopefully you can understand what I'm getting at!!
This is partially why I get so mad when ppl say affirmations & thoughts are the same thing. Bc YES technically you're right, but we ALL know we're talking about completely different things when we use each individual word. We mean different concepts when we say, "affirmations" vs "thoughts". That's why I just say, "The goal is to make your affirmations your thoughts," not that your thoughts are affirmations from the start. Again, limited words to describe these giant concepts.
You also have to GET RID OF the idea that your brain or your reality or the universe or literally whatever is against you or "your enemy." DROP THAT SHIT. That is SABOTAGE for manifestors with OCD. NOTHING IS TRYING TO SABOTAGE YOU!!! Your intrusive thoughts are not proof that your brain wants you to feel bad & fail!!! Your brain is an organ, a machine even, doing it's job! It does not have an opinion! Intrusive thoughts are a side effect of your organ having a condition! That's all it is! A physiological phenomenon in your brain! It's just chemicals, okay! It's not some higher power that wants YOU specifically to fail! I'm going to say this loud & clear: DO 👏 NOT 👏 LET 👏 ANY 👏 RANDOM 👏 POSTS 👏 TRIGGER 👏 YOU 👏 INTO 👏 PSYCHOSIS 👏
This was a big issue for me! I would see smth that was like, "If xyz, you're doing it wrong! :(" and my brain would go "yeah & the universe hates you for this grave mistake & is punishing you immediately for ever thinking you could possibly deserve to feel a shred of happiness or safety in your life mwahahahha 😈"
THE BIGGEST PIECE OF ADVICE I CAN GIVE TO YOU IS TO IMMEDIATELY SAY "that's incorrect." if you see a post telling you it's possible for you to be "manifesting wrong." IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. The reason there are a million methods & practices & success stories in each community is bc EVERYTHING WORKS!!!! If someone is claiming that you could be doing smth wrong, THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT!!!! Please ignore them! :(( You deserve more than to let random losers on the internet control you like that.
Another thing that helps is to just accept that you're gonna have intrusive thoughts. It's just gonna happen, I'm sorry. You can't stop it. You can't even fight it a lot of the time, and that's okay. (You can always fix this later, but as a beginner just starting out this is a good mindset that helped me). Before you open any apps to look at manifesting/shifting content, brace yourself without judgement for them to pop up. Bc they're going to. That's normal. Our brains are wired that way. There's nothing wrong with that. You're not disgusting & you're not less powerful bc of it.
Like I said earlier, it is simply a physical, chemical phenomenon in your brain. It says absolutely nothing about you as a person. Accept the uncomfortable feelings. Get comfortable feeling uncomfortable. Get used to not fighting it. If it's scary & feels counterproductive at first, that's fine. I'd even say that means it's working. The more used to discomfort you get, the weaker that feeling will get with practice. And if you don't feel scared? If it feels like it's natural to do? Even better! No need to deal with those uncomfortable feelings if you don't have to!
One of my favorite mantras to say in regards to A LOT of things is: "It doesn't HAVE to happen, but if it DOES—it's helping." I think the reason I've gotten so impartial to my OCD symptoms recently is bc I just don't pay them any mind when they pop up. Oh, I'm triggered by that? Yeah, I saw it coming a mile away. It doesn't mean shit, that's simply how my brain works—it can't help it! The machine does what the machine is wired to do, no use getting upset at it for that. I've now gotten so used to my symptoms that I think it's almost as if they're not even there anymore.
When it comes to compulsions, I'm sad to say that I don't have much to tell you. I've just recently started noticing when I'm experiencing compulsions, and I'm still getting used to recognizing it. I've always experienced more "non-physical" compulsions?? Like instead of flicking the lights on and off for a certain number of times, a big thing for me is that I'll have a "time limit" to complete a certain task or smth like that. I've also recently found out that "body checking" is a thing?? Bro I do that all the time!!! 😭😭 I never knew it was a compulsion!! I legitimately believed for a long time that I didn't get compulsions as often as others simply bc the ones I get aren't like the stereotypical examples lmaooo. So yeah, I can't offer much advice here :( but I WILL say, I've noticed that as my OCD has become more tame (with me getting comfortable with my symptoms & etc), my anxiety has also gone down TREMENDOUSLY. I think this probably helps with compulsions. And anytime I experience anything debilitating/incredibly stressful bc of my OCD (like if I feel aroused after a sexual intrusive thought) I just remind myself that it's simply a chemical thing & it says nothing about who I am. I just remind myself that I know my morals & I know what & who I'm sexually attracted to & the body experiences many different sensations for many different reasons, not bc the intrusive thought is right. I remind myself once and then I move on, if I have to distract myself with smth else to be able to ignore any persisting intrusive thoughts? I do that. I try not to give too much attention to the intrusive thoughts bc I've heard that can make them worse. Maybe in a few months I'll be able to elaborate more on this subject, but for now I think this is all I can give you lol. :')
Overall I basically just try not to fight it. I consume manifesting & shifting content through a different lens than a non-OCDer would. I go into it knowing that they're going to word things in a way that my brain isn't necessarily built for bc they don't have my disorder. Neurodivergent ppl have to live through a neurotypical world every day! So I kinda just approach it through that lens. "These posts were not made with ppl like me in mind, but that doesn't mean I can't still read & interpret them how I like or need to."
It's gotten to the point also where if I see smth that starts to look like smth I'm gonna disagree with, I'll just skip it immediately lmao. No use triggering myself when there's plenty more content to go through. If I ever see a post that starts with, "Here's the key to manifesting!" Or "This is why you haven't shifted yet:" I just immediately go "nope" and scroll past. I know that I don't agree with that information, so what's the point in reading it when I know all it'll do is potentially trigger more intrusive thoughts? Protect your peace!

I think I've covered most of the bases that I wanted to, but like I said: PLEASE ask if you have any more questions! It's hard for me to make long posts like this bc my mind wanders and I end up wanting to rant about things that are unrelated lmao so I'm not even entirely sure if this post is completely legible I tried my best to reread & edit it to make sense but you never know! 😭 Anyway, thank you for this ask!! This is smth very important to me so I'm glad it's actually smth that ppl want! :] I might make a post later giving an example of how I use a popular method, but I'm in the middle of using said method so we'll see how it goes! I hope at least one thing in this post helped you, and I hope you have an easier time manifesting from now on 🫶 thank you again!
