The clergy would often gather for the celebration of Matins, Vespers, Little Hours, and Divine Liturgy. In practice, these are fixed feasts celebrated on the same calendar date year after year. In the featured picture, you see the icon of the Synaxis of the Twelve Apostles, which is considered one of the most popular types of synaxis in Christianity. The holy icon was created in the 14th century and is now held in the permanent collection of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Russia.
