A synaxis is a liturgical or aliturgical gathering and assembly for the commemoration of saints. The clergy would often gather for the celebration of Matins, Vespers, Little Hours, and Divine Liturgy. In practice, these are fixed feasts celebrated on the same calendar date year after year. In the featured picture, you see the icon of the Synaxis of the Twelve Apostles, which is considered one of the most popular types of synaxis in Christianity. The holy icon was created in the 14th century and is now held in the permanent collection of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Russia.

The featured icon of John the Forerunner, commonly known as John the Baptist, belongs to the series of icons attributed to Vysotsky Monastery in Serpukhov, Russia. This and other icons are often compared to the renowned Zvenigorod icon series by Andrei Rublev, arguably the greatest Russian icon painter in history. The icon of John the Forerunner was painted somewhen between 1387 and 1395, while the author remained anonymous.

When I saw fabric buttons for the first time, I immediately fell in love with them and I knew that I should make a dress that has a lot of fabric buttons. And here it is made from red wool with some linen lining. A pattern is adopted from late medeival period.
