“There, in the chords and melodies, is everything I want to say. The words just jolly it along. It’s always been my way of expressing what, for me, is inexpressible by any other means.”
Remembering David Bowie on his 70th birthday. We miss you, Dave. x

John had been there to give the award for ‘Record Of The Year’, alongside Paul Simon - both joking about their “missing” partners, Paul and Art Garfunkel, although Art Garfunkel was present to accept an award on behalf of Olivia Newton-John (”“I thought I told you to wait in the car,” Simon quipped. Garfunkel also got in a great jab, asking Simon, “Still writing, Paul?””) and Paul had won a grammy for Best Pop Performance By A Duo, Group Or Chorus for Band On The Run (although he wasn’t there to accept it in person).
David Bowie presented the Best R&B Vocal Performance, Female, award to Aretha Franklin for Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing.
