Urko, Galen and the Astronauts were characters from the TV incarnation of Planet of the Apes as opposed to the movies. The TV series was very popular in the UK despite being cancelled early after a short run in the US in late 1974. Coincidentally I am reliably informed there will be a feature on these live shows in the next issue of Infinity (No. 77, out at the end of September in the UK).

1979 ad for the UK cinema release of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century from July 26.

What is going on with the quotation marks/inverted commas on this poster? "Buck Rogers" and then again after Century" in the main title and then the whole title is in inverted commas on the next line. I'm guessing the first bit was for stylistic reasons and it wouldn't have looked right with the inverted comma before Buck and then smaller ones not appearing until after Century but why did it need them in the first place? Was it so we denizens of the UK knew it was the film's title and not the name of the actor who was in a film called 'The 25th Century'? I don't think the Buck Rogers name had the same historical name recognition in the UK that it likely had in the US.

The Transformers are all dead...not really. Classic Shockwave cover by Mark Bright for The Transformers No. 5 (US, 1984) and reused on The Transformers No. 22 (UK, 13-26 July 1985). Always used to think he transformed into a cassette player but apparently that was Soundwave. Easy mistake to make.
