I had a thought. Forest gnomes are tiny, yeah? My gal Lilli is litterally the size of a human toddler, but in general, forest gnomes are the smallest race in dnd. They also are able to communicate with smaller animals and have an affinity with them.

Maybe they should have animal handling as a profficency? Perhaps even double profficency? Not only because of how close they live with nature and animals, but also because even neglected gnome children must have at one point had to convince a predator that they are too much trouble to eat. I don’t know, it just seems like it is a missed oppertunity.

Also because rock gnomes have double profficency in Arcana because they make magical trinkets and mechanical clocks. It makes sense that forest gnomes who lives so close to animals and can communicate with them have animal handling built in.
