1547 Jacopo Robusti (Tintoretto) - Portrait of a man
(Kröller-Müller Museum)
Catherine Parr, Queen of England by an artist of the English School (after Hans Eworth), c. 1548
A sketch I did of the hero and heroine from my latest time travel romance project, HUNT THE WHITE HIND. Cathy's a time traveler from the 1980s (hence the Casio wristwatch), while Father Nicolas is a Franciscan friar from the Coronado expedition in the 1540s. I've written 44k words, and I'm really happy with my progress!
However, I'm taking a break now, and working on my backlog of commissions. More new art will be posted soon!

Helmet shaped like a griffin. Milan, Italy, 1540-1545 AD.
This splendid Burgundian unfortunately represents the only surviving element of a parade armor probably Medicean executed around 1540-1545. The burnished and gilded iron mezail stamp simulates, in embossed form, a dragon's head topped with a serrated crest, the wide open mouth closed by a mobile bavaria representing the features of a face with a terrifying expression. A theme relating to the attraction of the mannerist taste for expressionism and the fantastic.
A feather holder is attached to the back of the stamp, while a necklace of interlacing runs over the gorget and covers it -neck is covered with stylized scales.
