"Dear #1607
I'm a huge glazer and defender for Good For Your Soul. But I have to say I'm very open minded to this experience. During my first listen, there were a couple of songs that did not stick to me (fill the void, pictures of you, little guns), but after a couple of listens I start to notice things about them. I want to say that Good For Your Soul isn't really a one-time listen kinda album and that probably doesn't make it any better than how you see it now but this is just from my personal experience.
The thing that makes a lot of Oingo Boingo songs with strange lyrics good isn't just the lyrics but also the musical arrangements and instrumentals. For example, I actually used to hate Grey Matter, believe it or not. But after watching the live show and seeing them perform, I started noticing sounds I've never noticed before on my first listen (also after learning the lyrics, I noticed how interesting the song really was).
I was the same way with Pain when I first heard the lyrics. I thought it was so silly that I should just skip it. Like the lyrics "soak up pain like a sponge..." Threw me off really bad on my first listen and I labelled that song to be a bad song. But after a while it ended up being my favourite Boi-Ngo song after I paid more attention to the lyrics, heard the chorus and listened closely to the little sounds in the song. There were a LOT of songs I didn't like back because I wasn't paying much attention to it,, but a lot of them ended up to be my favourites (I can list every single OB song I used to hate on my first listen but then we'd be here for a while)
What I'm trying to say is that sure Good For Your Soul is a mixed bag but it's the little things,, little details in the sounds, as well as the interesting themes they talk about (nerdy horror movies, nerdy books, religion, nightmares, war and SWEAT) makes the album so so special to me.
If you still don't like Good For Your Soul then that's okay, actually it's completely fine. Everyone should be allowed to hate and love whatever they like. However I'm just sharing my personal experience with the album. I hope the rest of your listening experience with Oingo Boingo is terrific."

A Vase with Flowers
Jacob Vosmaer
probably 1613
The Delft painter Jacob Vosmaer was an early if not pioneering specialist in the painting of flower pictures, which often depict rare specimens known to the artists solely from illustrated books. At some time before 1870 this panel was trimmed on the sides and cut down (about nine inches) at the top, cropping the crown imperial.

Hey!
So I read a fic on ao3, maybe last year?
Essentially, Eddie gets fucked up by the demobats but Steve managed to get to him in time, and they take him back to Hawkins but he's still a wanted man, so he recovers in Steve's basement and they fall in love in the process-- any ideas??
