We got a place together omg!! It happened so quickly; we went for a viewing last night at 8pm and it's confirmed since this afternoon that we have it! Exciting times are coming x

About Cal, because I have had a resurgence of affection for my grumpiest character. Tagged by @balaurvestic !

1. He has a suuuper low opinion of politicians. They're all corrupt, even if they're on your side.

2. On that note, he's not a big fan of the Ascendancy. He doesn't necessarily hate it, and he won't deny that's where he comes from, but he doesn't want to return.

3. He's taken on the task of raising his niece after her parents died. He may have, with the aid of his former CO in the CDF, found a way to take her from the Ascendancy.

4. He prefers to use slugthrower rifles. A lot of the galaxy has moved on to making armor that is blaster bolt resistant, and he finds that usually means standards have dropped in other areas.

5. He'll say he does odd jobs for a living, and he's not totally wrong. It's just that his "odd jobs" tend to include protecting crime lords or killing crime lords.

6. He keeps his niece's existence on the down-low. He wants her to find a better life than what he has, and that includes making sure his life doesn't impact her a significant amount.

7. His favorite thing to do when trying to wind down (at least in flight) is sit in the cockpit and watch the stars.

8. In that vein, his job in the CDF was to watch the stars (and firefights) and report on them. There's some nostalgia in the action for him.

9. Unless you're his niece, he's unlikely to make an effort to be friendly. He's here to do a job, and one day he might do a job against you. Friendship has no place in that.

10. He calls himself Cal, as opposed to his core name, as a way to show he no longer has a family or connections. It was a conscious decision on his part, and it was his final step in severing himself from the Ascendancy.
