I find it funny how the world is pushing for a two state solution, Israel offers Palestinians a state for decades, which they reject.
And now when Israel finally says no to it after having its citizens massacred, the world goes up and arms and yells at Israel for denying the Palestinians a state.
Israel has given the Palestinians every chance to establish a state and coexist. Israel now has every right to deny terrorists who have just killed its own people a state which it could use to launch more war.
Edit: 1948, 1993, 2000, 2005, 2008. These were the times that palestine rejected the two state solution.
Pretty much the narrative on every ignorant college campus.
I also support 2 state solution but realistically understand this will not happen unless both parties agree to it and right now this is not something either country's governments want.
Source, where there is also a photo of Y*ss*r Ar*f*t that we are not posting because, who wants to see that terrorist's ugly mug?
hey genuine question here but if there is no potential for a ceasefire what exactly is supposed to happen? obviously Hamas is bad, but why place so much focus on them if there is nothing to be done to fight or convince them beyond warfare and heightened civilian death counts? if there is no negotiation, what is the solution? I'm not trying to trap an answer here, I'm just confused what your stance is beyond the general idea of getting rid of Hamas and rescuing hostages
Right now, getting rid of Hamas and rescuing hostages IS the general idea.
What happens after the war, I don't have a crystal ball on. I think many including myself want to see a 2 state solution that includes the West Bank develop out of this eventually so that both Israelis and the West Bankers/Gazans can have their sovereignty.
But that is a ways away.
I think there will have to be intermediary steps of some international involvement with rebuilding Gaza and making sure all embers of Hamas are put out that would likely last some years?
And then meanwhile in my 2 state dreamland you're working to nation build in the West Bank and figuring out where the borders of that need to be which likely involves swapping some undeveloped land along the border to account for settlers in some places and relocating some settlers in other places. And ending the West Bank settler project.
Now you sort of have three states and the problem exists in merging Gaza and the West Bank under a unified government and it seems Netanyahu and some Arab leaders agree that Abbas whose Palestinian Authority / Fatah organization runs the West Bank, is a liability for various reasons. I think the most cogent of those for the Israeli side is Pay to Slay which is a well known program whereby the Abbas government pays out $300 million USD to families of terrorists who have either suicide bombed or are in prison for acts of terrorism against Israel. In this way Abbas has been directly incentivizing and subsidizing terrorism and Hamas.
PA's payments of salaries to imprisoned terrorists and to families of dead terrorists reflect its commitment to an ongoing struggle against
There's other issues of corruption and generally just not supporting peace in addition to the above...
I don't know that Abbas represents the self determination of Palestinians but you would have to ask Palestinians after the war what they think about it.
So ...
I think nobody really knows what to do about Abbas in the West Bank but he is a great obstacle to Peace as is to a large extent Netanyahu's Likkud party that supports the settlers.
American pressure seems to be towards creating a Palestinian state after Hamas is thoroughly dismantled. I think that pressure will go a long way and can go away at some point if a GOP candidate is elected for president in 2024. So as Americans we need to keep Dems in office as many as possible especially at the federal executive branch.
God Willing this will be a situation where a Phoenix of self determination in Gaza and the West Bank alike rises from the ashes of this bloody conflict.
But...
As Americans saw when we were fucking around in the Middle East for no good reasons and trying to tear down regimes and build something up...
You can only lead the people to water of democracy. You can't make them drink.
I think the Palestinians strongly want statehood.
I think the world is ready to make that happen.
What form that takes has yet to be seen. Let us hope they make a good state, that Israel becomes better, and shit starts happening to create a Free Palestine with a government that represents them and is for peace and building a State, next to a Free and secure Israel. That's the goal for me anyway.
Inb4 the free palestine movements say it was only about the west bank occupation and east Jerusalem annexation, and never implied Israel in it's entirety as the problem.
Some israeli wank below.
Bro I am so tired of this website unbelievable antisemitism.
In what universe does wishing zionists/jews death is advocating for human rights?
In what world does denying the oct7 massacre is activism?
Yes israel government is a terrible right wing fascist government.
Yes hamas are murderous terrorists that benefits from their own civillians suffering&death.
Yes there are innocents in both sides.
WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU WISH DEATH TO A CIVILLIAN. and if that makes you feel better about yourself WHY do you call yourself a leftist. You're as bad as Hamas&Netanyahu
I literally have become so fucking cynical at this point. Social media is literally a curse because everyone thinks their misinformed opinion is important. Fuck off. I'm so proud to be Israeli (not because of my horrible goverment) because it seems the educational system on America is failing really fucking bad. I feel a lot more fucking connection to my "enemies" (Palastinians, Egyptians, Turks etc) and not to your fucking snowflake fake leftist mentality.
If you're an American below 25yo just don't express an opinion about the middle east conflict ok honey. You're likely to act on emotion instead of facts&believe every unverified twitter screenshotsl you see&didn't know what gaza even was before oct7&just following trends
