The Train
I have stopped believing in miracle cures. If I was going to be healed, it would have happened years ago and I wouldn't be lying on the floor wishing I could die. That's the only way to be better it seems, to not be at all. That is the cure. To want more is delusional. I had a dream I parked my car on the tracks and filled my stomach with pills. Either the train would take me or the sleep would, I was determined to kiss deaths bloody cheek. The big white eye of the train came rushing and threw me off the tracks. I woke up in hospital white and I refused to speak. My existence was already much too big. When I lie in bed at night, I think of being surrounded by earth, the soft moist feel of almost nothingness. I'm not frightened anymore. Are you?
I Used to Be
My mouth tastes like the abandoned school we explored last summer- like a thousand burned books and tattered stage curtains. I am choking on ash and broken glass. There's something haunting in my voice like wind blowing through broken windows or the drip of rain in the empty swimming pool. It says, "I used to be-" Nevermind, my skin is covered in scars now.
The Frequency of Desire
I said I could feel it in my bones- The resonance of who you are. Like the fibers of our beings were made to constantly pull us together. I think my body must be a tuning fork. There's a hum traveling from lips to collarbones to hips, begging you to kiss me everywhere, and there you sit, dreaming of kissing her. Did you ever love me half as much as you thought you did? I'm not so sure. I don't even know how to breathe anymore.
