Robert goes in search for Debbie and even calls Cain to see if maybe she ran back to him. But that’s not the case as she was in Robert’s car in the backseat. Robert apologizes for his behavior which she accepts in the end… at least now she knows how he pretend feels for her. Back at Wishing Well, the family is setting up (if you call it that) a computer for Debbie. Cain is certain Debbie is up to something and it sure ain’t got nada to do with Andy.

I don’t blame you for being taken in. (Part 2)

Robert and Debbie wind up at THE footbridge where they talk about ‘damaged goods’ Andy and how his dad was ‘a nutter.’ Debbie has no plans for falling for any line again especially Robert’s. But then Robert spews how she was a kid with Andy but now is a woman (yeah, 15 year old woman) who knows what she wants. When they finally settle, Robert goes on about wanting to kiss her and when he gets too aggressive for ‘a bit of fun’, Debbie runs off.

Well, look at my dad for a start. He’s a complete waste of space. And then there’s Robert. (Part 1)

Debbie’s skipping school and what does she do instead? Make plans with Robert on the sly with Cain none the wiser. Jack and golden boy Andy… no comment (the quote says it all). Debbie has doubts about going on the picnic with Robert but decides to go for it after some sweat talking by him.

ザ・ジョーカー

大沢在昌。文庫本の第１刷発行は２００５年９月１５日。単行本は２００２年４月、ノベルスは２００４年８月。

単行本は２００２年４月だそうだ。たしかに出たのを覚えている。新シリーズ第一弾の連作短編集だそうだ。

しかし、以前図書館でジョーカーの短編集を読んだ覚えがある。

今回文庫を買って読んで、再度確認した。すべて一致しているかどうかは確認できないが、全部読んだことがある。単行本のときはやっと出たようなことを言っていたと思うのだが。

まあ、そんな疑問はさておき。大沢在昌は面白い。ジョーカーもいい男だ。自分とは接点のない男だとは思うが。

価格破壊

城山三郎。手元の角川文庫の初版は昭和５０年６月１日付けになっている。

昭和４４年１月から８月まで３４回にわたって「週刊読売」に連載されたものだそうだ。

巻末の解説では、モデルはいないことになっているが、ダイエーの中内氏がモデルだ。

中内氏の訃報を聞き、久しぶりに読みたくなった。

最初に「価格破壊」を知ったのは、NHKのドラマであった。山崎努が主人公を演じており、とても面白かった。

そこで原作を読んでみようということで、文庫本を買ったのだった。

再読してもやはり面白い。当時から比べると、価格破壊は進んでいる。しかし、主人公の言うところの暗黒大陸はまだまだ広がっている。一部であるが、いまだ再販価格制度は維持されているし、価格以外の統制も多い。

許認可問題や談合など、状況はあまり変わっていないのでないかとも思える。

久しぶりにNHKで再放送でもしてくれると嬉しい。
