I cry every time I listen to an Obama speech 🥹
Trillin: Deciding the Next Decider: The 2008 Presidential Race in Rhyme
THIS weeks blog, politics and social media!
Dozens of commentators argued that Republicans are becoming a "regional party" based in the South, implying that the region was a bastion of red-state conservatism.

VOTING FOR PRESIDENT IS POINTLESS
For as long as I can remember I have been fixated on American Politics. I grew up with dreams of sitting in the oval office calling the shots for the free world. I read every book, every article, watched every show that I thought would give me a better shot at this dream. Call it a long shot if you will, but every person needs something to strive for. I had back up plans of sitting in the senate, or congress, or just being involved in politics in any way, shape, or form. Yet in one defining moment, a moment that would define a life change so drastic that politics is now only referred to as a fleeting fascination of my youth, I lost every iota of desire to be involved in politics.
That moment was August 28th, 2008. An election that had divided a nation. And was my first true taste of the divisiveness, and partisanship of American politics. But it was not the election that made me lose faith, it was on this date, a day in my mind that will life on in infamy...

Still unsure about Obama?
The differences between the candidates, in their reactions to the financial hardships of the previous week, boiled down in to less than three minutes. #### Take aways: **McCain:** A blowhard who will do anything to pass the blame rather than get anything worthwhile done. He'd rather take pot shots at anyone but himself and his party than actually, I dunno, spend 30 seconds detailing anything, some sort of plan, to mitigate the situation in some way. More of the same, stupid shit we've endured for 8 years. McCain's talk does nothing but seek to stir up fear and uncertainty about everyone's future. "No one knows what to do" ... with the implication of "everyone, that is, except ME!" You're going to live in fear until you elect John McCain. If you don't elect John McCain, you'll surely be fucked and you'll have no one to blame except yourself. **Obama:** A level-headed guy who has a plan to fix things and isn't going to waste breath on denigrating his opponent while the economy is in turmoil. Obama doesn't even attempt to slyly try and point out that it's actually McCain and the policies of his party that have gotten us into the current situation. Barack Obama would rather enact a plan to help the citizens of the nation than squabble over meaningless bullshit. Obama calms people, brings perspective to the problem, outlays a clear plan to come together as a country and pass specific plans to mitigate the issue. Obama tells people there's nothing to worry about and we'll get through it, we've done it before, et cetera.
