My Favorite LESSON from Thailand was learning to go with the flow, trust more, and let go of my need to control. You see, we went to Thailand with only one night booked in a hotel. I wanted the freedom to go with the flow and leave room for surprise! Then on day 2, we did a tour in Bangkok that resulted in us stopping by a tour agency and booking hotels for our entire two weeks in Thailand right then and there! So much for surprise😞... I walked out of the tour office IN TEARS and feeling defeated. I was upset because I felt I lost all my "freedom" to be spontaneous. I felt that by saying yes to our tour agent, all the magic and mystery I had hoped to have in Thailand was dead. BUT that couldn't have been further from the truth! After my OVER-REACTION, I realized my feelings came from my intense need to control everything. I then let go of whatever ideas I had in my head about how my Thailand trip should go. Letting a native Thai woman plan our trip was actually a GREAT idea and we ended up absolutely LOVING the 4 places she chose for us. I never would have found them without her! We still encountered a lot of surprises and were spontaneous during the trip. PLUS after my initial breakdown and feelings of regret, accepting our decision left me feeling relieved to know we wouldn't have to think of where to go next or worry about booking hotels ourself. It's funny looking back at how I dramatize such small things sometimes. Releasing the need to control and trusting other people is a much more freeing way to live! That was a big growth moment for me and I'm glad I was able to release how I thought our travels would go right from the very first country, and instead be open for what lie ahead 🌴🌴🌴 #lessonlearned #thailand #2016reflections (at Koh Samui, Thailand)

I swear #ShineTexts knows me too well now. Haha. They always come thru with a good gem 💎. We've all had our quarrels with the year #2016, but let's all take a moment to reflect on the good things and find that silver living! #2016reflections #morepositivity #2017
