Ben Shapiro looks like a crying Tobey Maguire from Spiderman and you cant convince me otherwise. Not normal Tobey, only fake crying Tobey. During this TED talk I will prove....
Same.
Last week, my husband found out that a former mentor of his had passed away and the funeral would be held this coming weekend, in another state. Over the weekend, we sorted through all the details, talked with other people that would be going, and decided how we’d get him there. Yesterday we finalized arrangements with friends to watch the kids for the weekend, so he and I could drive out there together (12+hrs each way!). He also booked the hotel room last night.
This morning, I sent out my Out of Office notification and cancelled or rescheduled three meetings for Friday. I texted with a friend who would be there as well that I was excited to see.
Then right before lunch, Muz came in to tell me that the family hosting the funeral had positive Covid tests among the members. Viewing is cancelled and the funeral will now be online.
I’m so disappointed that we don’t get to have this little trip. It was going to be exhausting and a ton of work, but it would also have been something nice. For him to pay his respects to this very influential man in his life, for him to also reconnect with friends from that specific time in his life, and for both of us to get away (from so much smoke) and be in a different place. I’m just....ugh. I should have known better than to look forward to something. Because it’s 2020, of course it would get screwed up.
Quarantine Q & A

Are you staying home from work/school?
I have worked from home since last year, so I’m still working from home. But there were supposed to be a few in-person meetings that were cancelled and moved online. I am staying home from pretty much everything else.
If you’re staying home, who’s with you?
I’m at home with my husband (who also works from home, but got laid off a couple weeks ago) and my three kids (who have been out of school since Mar 13th and won’t go back until September).
Are you a homebody?
I’m less of a homebody and more of a very lazy person who likes wearing sweatpants and no bra. But I am currently getting very antsy from being so cut off from others. I crave the couple chances I get to drop off or pick up something from my friend who lives a mile away. Three minute drive? PLEASE.
What movies have you watched recently?
The Last Jedi, The Ten Commandments, maybe another one? We tend to watch a lot of TV and Youtube vs movies. We plan on watching Code 8 soon, and then I also need to watch Just My Type.
Shows?
Muz and I finished Person of Interest. We’ve been re-watching Scrubs and interspersing Community and Happy Endings. I really picked up steam on The Rookie and am partway through Season 2, hoping to catch up soon. I’ve watched a couple episodes of the most recent season of Call The Midwife. One thing about having completely empty weekends is that I can watch several episodes on the weekend. I still need to watch Season 3 of The Crown and finish Season 12 of Doctor Who.
An event that was cancelled that you were looking forward to?
Easter was a big one. The 2 day region work meeting. THE REMAINING 3 MONTHS OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.
What music are you listening to?
I’m always listening to P!nk, Kelly Clarkson, Halsey, and Taylor Swift. And Hamilton. Sometimes I mix it up with Fall Out Boy and Linkin Park. Or throwback playlists (2000s is my favorite, but 90s also has some good stuff, or ‘Sing Along Anthems’ and the like.)
What are you reading?
I read Anne’s House of Dreams and am in Anne of Ingleside now. The Anne of Green Gables series is my go-to series for when I need something happy and chill to reduce my anxiety. Not sure I can take reading Rilla of Ingleside right now, but we’ll see. And then fanfiction. I’ve been keeping up with @kylorenvevo‘s current Reylo stories and just the last couple of days have binged through a bunch of @vesperass-anuna‘s Skyeward stories (I do that every few months anyway, so it was a good time to come back to them).
What are you doing for self care?
I don’t know if I have been doing a good job with this. But taking my anxiety meds (annoyingly often, but I am making sure to take them because I need to), making myself eat, intentionally putting my phone down when I get in bed and reading something else so I can calm down. And baking a lot. I’ve made a few different kinds of bread and a cake and other stuff. I did turn my hair pink a few weeks ago. It only lasted a few days, but it was fun.

I wish I could still feel things the way I felt the time Trump got covid. motherfucker got indicted and it barely even feels real to me. meanwhile in 2020 he got covid and my professor messaged our class about it and extended the due date for the homework bc she thought we'd need time to process the insanity. she was so real for that
Gotta say this is definitely not the dystopian hellscape of a future I was hoping for. Quite disappointing overall.
