There is a reason I'm smiling. I hit my 100 pound weight loss goal! I actually hit it on May 13th. I'm down 103 pounds total from December 2013. This dress is a size 10. The last time I wore a size 10, it was a pair of loose fitting jeans in 1994. It's a good feeling to be able to go into a regular store and pick out clothes. I'm grateful that stores like Lane Bryant and Torrid exist but it sucks only having two or three shopping options. So now I'm aiming to lose about 10 more pounds and to tone up. I joined a weight loss challenge at my gym, which I think has helped me get over the plateau I was stuck on. It's been kinda of fun, actually. When I hit the goal I set with my trainer last year, we're going to take photos for a transformation poster. It's been an amazing journey. I'd say I never felt better, but I'm actually really sore right now!
9 to go?
Haven't updated in a few days but figured it was long overdue. It's been a rough couple of weeks wherein the numbers on the scale did not want to go down. I was still logging, still working out, but the results were a little frustrating. My trainer put me on a carb cut and it seems to be working. I was eating too many carbs and not enough fat. Now I'm aiming for 40% protein, 30% carbs and 30% fat. It is hard because I don't eat meat and I have a moderate allergy to soy (so I try to avoid it). I'm a super picky eater. I worry about being able to maintain this long term. Carbs are in nearly EVERYTHING. I wish net carbs actually meant something (who knew one Quest bar was a quarter of my daily carb intake?). But I have learned that you will sometimes have a bad day. That is a fact. We can't be perfect all the time. But the great thing is that you have the next day to start again. I do have to say that I am less hungry since I've increased my protein intake. Before I was hungry ALL THE TIME. The change seems to be working because I have officially lost 91 pounds! I now have 9 pounds to go to meet my 100 pound weight loss goal, and 15 pounds to go to meet my training goal. That feels pretty amazing. When I signed up for the gym a year ago, I never expected I would get here. It's amazing what we are capable of. On Thursday I realized that my BMI was no longer in the obese range. I told my friend and co-worker, "I'm officially overweight!" She looked at my like I had gone mad, and then she understood. It's been an interesting journey thus far and I've learned a lot about myself and what I'm capable of. I can't wait to see what's next.
Gym quick hit
I found out I can do a few full out plyometric push-ups today. Not enough that I would be ready to join the Marines or anything but more than I expected. I think I impressed the trainer. Hell, I impressed myself.
