They were built for him, which implies they weren’t alchemized. This almost never happens in Homestuck, and it immediately brings to mind the last time we encountered non-alchemized tech - the time Jade’s pen-pal upgraded her bunny.
But then, he does like to break them more than he likes to build them.

CT over there, with his navy blue, is probably among the highest of all - and Karkat, who refuses to share his blood color, has adopted the anonymous grey.
His 'true' blood color, based on the zodiac pattern, would be green, but I don't think that's the actual answer, or everyone would have figured it out already.
