Day 9 of my push-ups challenge #22pushupchallenge for our military. Post class still banged em out OSU 💪🏻 (at Underground Martial Arts & Fitness Center)
The Veteran suicide rate is 1.5 times higher than that of the general population: 22 Veterans per day choose to take their own lives. I don’t even pretend to have the answers on how to deal with this, but I think awareness is the first step. While the #22pushupchallenge is awesome, I want to push myself a little harder. So Sunday (or Monday) I am going to run. While I have been running, I haven’t been training for anything specific. Nonetheless, I plan on running at least 26.2 miles. After that, it’s anyone’s guess how far I will go. No support crew, no long training program, no clear cut idea on my path, but this is my way of helping bring awareness. Don’t give in to the battle within. #endveteransuicide @the_valhalla_project #runner #running #marathon #ultrarunning #runnersofinstagram #runners #run #ironman #triathlete #woundedwarriorproject #veteran #veterans #army #navy #airforce #marines #awareness (at Krugerville, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDfbrwWHYjb/?igshid=16sqjvftqn75j
Today is day 22 of my 22 day push-up challenge. I was nominated by Don Isaacs to do 22 push-ups a day for 22 days to raise awareness for veterans. There are 22 vets a day that pass due to death by suicide, and this is a small way to raise awareness for that issue. Veterans crisis line 1-800-273-8255 Day 1 - Jason Thometz Day 2 - Blake Pannell Day 3 - Jeremy JD Frix Day 4 - Shane Vania Day 5 - Matt Ricks Day 6 - Brad Damschen Day 7 - Mike Smith Day 8 - Carl Sachs Day 9 - Elias Vigil Day 10 - Brandon Rummel Day 11 - Sani McPherson Day 12 - Nicholas Metzger Day 13 - Wyndel Darville Day 14 - Ryan Gross Day 15 - Ron Davis Jr. Day 16 - Mike Chaffee Day 17- Jason Turner Day 18 - Bradley Little Day 19 - Randy Martens Day 20 - Annie Sakelaris Day 21 - Tammy Montanye Day 22 - Jason Swain The rules are simple: * Once you are nominated your 22 days start the following day. * Every day you record yourself doing 22 push-ups. Try your best to reach 22. If that means doing assisted (from your knees) push-ups or that you have to stop and take a break that's fine but try to get them all done in one video. * Every day you must nominate a different person. Try to choose people you think will want to do this and/or have the ability to do it. * And finally, have fun with this. This is a simple and fun way to get the word out about a matter that more people need to be aware about. These brave men and women put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms and its sad that so many veterans feel that suicide is the only way .... #22pushupchallenge #22Kill #mission22 https://www.instagram.com/p/CDX1NhNJKtk/?igshid=1uzgl5l5jbm0k
