GOD like robert’s speech to andy on christmas before the wedding gets me. like obviously yeah maybe a part of it is a performance but 90% of it is genuine and you can see it on his face, how close to tears he is 

and a lot of it is because he cares about vic, not andy or diane and especially not jack, who where he’s concerned can rot in hell where he belongs (because robert knows the truth about the kind of man jack was, not the saint patriarch of the village like everyone else believes he is), because robert has always loved vic from the minute she was born and is probably the family member other than his mum he loves the most

and, y’know, the aaron of it all, because he was the one who prompted him to go and speak to andy and apologize in the first place, because he helped him to understand that at least in vic’s case he was being jealous and bratty and aaron is his voice of reason (as alarming as that is) and is the cooling ice to robert’s fire a lot of the time, helping him to stay grounded when it matters
