Maybe youv seen a lot of posts about protests breaking out in Indonesia or comments of Indonesians asking for you to listen Or maybe iv been spamming tags. sorry ANWYSAYD this post is for the people curious. Thank you <3

The summary of Indonesia's current situation (as of 31st August 2025, around 12:30PM) There are large protests that has been happening. In 25th Aug and 28-30th Aug). Police and civilians has died, yet the government stays comfortable. They have successfully pitted us against each other, causing a lot of places burning and people breaking into places.

WHY are people protesting?

Tax increases The land tax has been increased by 400%, some areas having 1000% increase in land tax

No increase in minimum wage. Despite the tax increase, the HIGHEST minimum wage is still Rp. 5,000,000 monthly, with the lowest being RP. 2,000,000. monthly

Income inequality. The DPR (house representatives) are being paid RP. 3,000,000 A DAY. The average Indonesian gets that money in ONE MONTH

Government corruption. I will state the worst corruption case in here once more. The government owned gasoline company "Pertamina" has been proven to corrupt up to 193 TRILLIONrupiah Rp. 193,000,000,000,000. TWELVE ZEROS??

Rising unemployment rates. Despite President Prabowo's promise to decrease unemployment, many Indonesians are still jobless. No, we are not lazy. We are not under educated. Many Indonesians need to get a job as an ojol (ojek online/online delivery service) to keep themselves afloat

Threats to journalism. Back in March 2025, the office of Tempo Media Group was sent a pigs head. It's a threat. This incident is has happened before in 1984, where a newspaper agency was sent a HUMAN HEAD.

Dismissal to the citizens complaints The most recent example of this is in Pati. Their tax was increased by 250%, much to the peoples dismay. In response to disagreement, the regent challenged them. "Go ahead, protest. Bring 5000 people, 50000 people, I'm not afraid. THAT and honestly they're so bad at public speaking.. like they're so sassy and "I'm above you all" YK??

Blocked access to bank accounts In July, the government announced that accounts that hasn't been used for at least 3 months will be blocked. People will loose access to their accounts, basically. This was soon changed to accounts that has been inactive for 5 years, though it left a bad taste on our tongue

The death of an innocent Protests from 29-31 August stem from anger. In 28th of August, a police armoured vehicle ran over innocent online delivery driver Affan Kurniawan. He was 21 years old, doing the job to get himself through college, the backbone of his family, he was on his last year of college, and he wasn't participating in the protest. The police has only apologized to the victims family and said to buy them a new motorcycle. The people do not see this as just. A life for an apology and some cheap motorcycle? Are we serious?

What has happened:

Deaths from police and civilians. They have successfully pitted us against each other, recreating another 1998. Our enemy is the government, not the working class.

Rise of racism and hate against minorities. Anti-Chinese propaganda has been on the rise again. This was also a common tactic in 1998. People are raiding Chinese shops, harassing people of Chinese ethnicity, and so much more. Our enemy is the government, not the minorities.

Censorship in media. Posts about protests are being suppressed by the algorithm, TikTok lives have been disabled in Indonesia, national channels aren't allowed to talk about protests.

Arson Public facilities has burnt down. Most of them train and bust stops. House representative buildings has also been incinerated. Because of the fire, a lot of restaurants and/or houses around the area has also been damaged.

! PEOPLE ARE BEING PAID TO DESTROY PUBLIC SPACES !

They're trying to split us up. Suddenly people appeared on motorcycles bringing ladders, destroying the bus stop, then pulling out gunpowder and lighting it up. These are oknums (person (used negatively)) biitchh! Don't slander us again you, you bitches. Everyone's slandering us- there are no protesters around here alright? Especially one bringing ladders on motorcycles bitch. Idiots.

! PROTESTERS ARE NOT ANARCHISTS !

The background shows a lot of protesters in uniform, singing the words "be careful, be careful provocation!" over and over again. Moreover on the reasons why protesters aren't the people burning down public facilities: 1. They are people who regularly use public facilities. Whether it be in the form of transportation, libraries, and everything else. A lot of protesters USE the public facilities as a means to go home AFTER PROTESTS! They would not want it destroyed 2. Plenty of protesters report that they have stopped at 6PM. They cleaned up the streets and finished as early as 7PM and was immediately on their way home 3. To burn down public facilities, you'd need a lot of planning, time, and resources poured into it. Ones the protesters wouldn't have. They wont even have a clear motive to do it, as stated in reason 1. 4. There are no proof that protesters burnt down the facilities. CCTV has been reported as downed during the time, the people couldn't stream their activities (giving less evidence on who burn those places down). 5. The demonstrations have been FORBIDDEN to be shown on national TV, yet the news of destroyed public facilities are everywhere. 6. Cops have already arrested four suspects of the arson. But, after deeper investigations, team Naration Newsroom found faces of the perpetrators very clearly. Zero of the perpetrators look similar to the four suspects in captivity. After finding that information, team Naration Newsroom confronted Regional Police Metrodaya and confronted them with their findings. Mr. Kombes Yusri Yunus claims that "not all the perpetrators have been found and still in pursuit." THEY ARRESTED FOUR INNOCENTS!
