2D Zelda means so much to me, you don't understand... watching my older brother and his friends venture into the dungeons of OoT/MM when I was just a child, which craved my own Zelda experience...
I saw that Walmart only had one copy of Link's Awakening DX, so I decided to give it a shot. I remember taking the big ChowChow for walks to gobble up vicious plants in the swamp area during late night drives home from my brother's ball games.
I've only played a slither of both Oracle games, thanks to my neighbor friends who each had the other.
Then, I saw the A Link to the Past GBA port at Walmart and had to get it, since I had witnessed another friend play the SNES version. Fell in love with its story and the Zelink moments made me a hardcore shipper. (I still go back and play it via SwitchOnline from time to time.)
Of course I grabbed The Minish Cap later on. I loved its Hyrule and atsmosphere and the artstyle.
Unfortunately I didn't give either PH/ST the time of day on the DS since they were controlled by the stylus.
A Link Between Worlds was the first thing I bought with my first paycheck from working in a factory (along with the 3DS), even the first game from the franchise to have fully beaten on my own. The story, world, characters and mechanics are so charming and wonderful.
And now? Now, around ten years later, we get a full new 2D top-down Zelda game. Not only that, we get to experience playing as Princess Zelda herself.
This makes me such a happy camper. I can't wait. 💗
