Maranatha, Lord Jesus!
The last thing God tells us is to not add or take away from His word, especially the prophecy of Revelation.
If we take away from it, God will take away our place in the holy city, i.e. heaven, and if we add to it, He will add the plagues in the prophecy.
Yikes.
Adding our own thoughts and opinions to the Bible might not seem like a big deal, so why does God give us a serious warning not to do it?
Dead Roaches
A thought to settle your nerves. What do you think the possibility that T^ump and Penis are insane enough that thy might just decide to Build the Temple for Israel?
I know you don’t believe in this but assuming that Jesus was really going to come back, shouldn’t he have been back by now
Hello Anon,
The truth is that there is no definitive date on when Jesus is supposed to return.People have tried and failed many many times, and it never fails to sweep up a following of people. That’s why in most mainstream churches you will never hear an official make a solid prediction.
On the other hand, we have many (even most) Christian priests and preachers pushing the idea that we do in fact live in the end of times. I’ve said before that I think humans have an obsession with the end of the world and I think the talk of Jesus’ return in the religious sphere is strongly attached to that. Matter of fact, I would say that the very myth itself is rooted in our obsession with an end. For believers this would be a glorious time that signals the end of existence on Earth and the “return” to paradise in heaven for eternity. We as a species are infected with the hardship of life as imperfect mortal beings. Everyone feels this deeply and it manifests in our cultures around the world. We want the suffering to end, but we don’t want our existence to end.
So, why do Christians commonly think we live in the end of times? Look at these few verses and you can see why everyone thinks it’s coming, but doesn’t know when.
Daniel 12:1
Matthew 24:6-7
Matthew 24:14
Matthew 24:30-33
Isaiah 2:1-4
They vaguely speak of both destruction and judgement. Because of these two things many people tend to see war, crime, strife and disease through the world and because of their mortal fear they feel this must be the terrible times the Bible spoke of.
As you can imagine, we can apply various Bible passages to nearly point in history, but people can only experience our own time so feelings lead them to hasty conclusions.
All prophecies in the Bible are vague at best and that is very intentional. The authors knew that avoid being proven wrong they needed to stick to predictions that could be applied to different contexts, or say something they could always claim is in the future. The second coming is the perfect example. There is no date or time limit, but it has signals that be interpreted in any time period and they can always so it’s coming. This is another example of how religion is the greatest manipulation in history.
Things are looking incredibly near to His 2nd coming. If only more people would see.
It is very near. That's why we have to keep sharing the Gospel with as many people as we can.
Jesus isn't returning for now though.
We don't know when Jesus will return. Based on the prophecies that were given by Jesus Himself and others as recorded in Scripture, it's possible we're in the last days. I would even say we almost certainly are. As a post-trib premillennial, I believe Jesus will return at the end of the Tribulation, which could begin very soon, probably within a decade. But my speculation could be wrong. It's entirely possible that Jesus could return right after I post this. Or later tonight. Or tomorrow. We just can't be sure. What we do know for certain is that Jesus will return, and that His return will be sudden, and that we best be doing the work He gave us to do when He does.
