🇺🇸 Agnodice, born in Athens in 300 B.C., is considered the first female doctor and gynecologist in ancient Greece. According to legend, Agnodice cut her hair and disguised herself as a man to study medicine in Alexandria, as women were forbidden to practice it. When accused of seducing her patients, she revealed her true identity before the judges, leading to a death sentence. However, the women of Athens, including the judges' wives, intervened to save her, resulting in the reversal of her sentence and the allowance for women to practice medicine, provided they treated only other women.
