(I really just need to shout this somewhere) I'm having a hard time learning to do 3d animation on my own because I feel like someone is going to yell at me that I'm doing it wrong. And I KNOW that it's ok to make 'bad' art because I'm still learning, but I'm terrified of even trying. So thank you for making art for us to enjoy. Because it makes me want to be good. (Good enough to make cute monster anims, at least.)
Ooof, Anon, I’m glad you reached out - I’m sure a lot of people feel similarly in whatever arty challenges they’re facing. Maybe try not to think of it as ‘bad’ art, and instead see it as a learning exercise? Like learning scales on the piano or something, you know? It’s just an exercise to get better and stronger.
Anyone worth learning from won’t yell at you for going about it in a less successful way - just be open to helpful advice if it’s offered, and ignore anyone who has the gall to yell at you. I can’t imagine that they would though!
I’m so proud that you’re learning a new skill though! 3D animation is super tricky (I tried to use Blender and Rhino????? I don’t even remember now because it was 84yrs ago when I was at Uni and got absolutely nowhere on my own, but I didn’t try very hard either. I got immediately overwhelmed and never tried again!!), so going it alone is really brave! Maybe someone on here might offer some advice to you or mentor you a bit if you ask them?
Anyway, good luck, have courage, and most importantly, I hope you have fun!
