The colors are a little off but I think I've improved substantially since the last one. He certainly looks friendlier.
I redid the expressions thing!!
AND HE CAN MOVE!!!!
While I did give him his alternative outfit and model his other limbs they kept clipping through the mesh so I may not work on that... yet.
If you can do so REBLOGS AND COMMENTS ARE APPRECIATED!!!!! Especially since I put a bunch of effort into this one.
You'll see why if you keep reading lol
Okay a LOT of yapping under the cut because (shockingly) I made some new developments with him!
For one, he ended up with WAY more detail than the first version... and more detail than my other models, for that matter.
Most of that came from subdividing the mesh to work better for deforming (although I think it can be used for sculpting? haven't figured out how to do that yet tho)
In addition, I also added more detail to his texture and I think it gives him a lot of character.
There are also a few developments with the rig!
I noticed someone using blue and red for left and right and yellow for the middle in their rig and I really like how it looks so I may keep it! Plus I changed all the control bones to be green.
The main thing: I managed to properly add IK to his legs!!! It was surprisingly simple... for the legs anyway. I could not get it to work on the arms for the life of me.
(I want to say never again but I'm probably just overlooking something simple so idk.)
Speaking of which, I (technically) IK rigged his wires! I added a bone to all the sections and while I would've loved to set up a proper IK for it, auto IK worked just fine.
It's also why the middle bones don't show up in the final rig.
And since it works as such, you can do such stuff as this:
I doubt he appreciates it, though.
And to top it off: I WAS able to recreate the effects I did for his face on the original!
For the eyes I just rigged the different pupils to the bone for the eye shapes (via scale).
For the other stuff, I duplicated his face and added a mostly transparent texture that could be swapped out to show other things!
Minus the multiple textures, it's also how I made the highlight.
And since I deleted the ask for it by accident: YES I am ABSOLUTELY using this model for the Tera blog!!! If I can figure out image sequences I may give him more mouths but it would work perfectly regardless.
As I mentioned before please reblog or comment if you would like to!! Especially if you've made it here!!
But mostly let me know what you think of him!!! I think I did way better this time around.
I may, however, take a break from 3D modeling temporarily... but mostly because I don't know what to model (and just modeling the computer version wouldn't be that substantial)
Okay NOW finally the extra photos lol. Enjoy
(And a messy recreation of one of the earlier poses since I never saved it sadly...)
