ROPE (1948) dir. Alfred Hitchcock Brandon and Philip, two young men who share a New York City apartment, attempt to prove they committed the perfect murder by hosting a dinner party for the family of a classmate they just strangled to death. The guests include the victim's father, aunt, fiancée, and their old prep-school housemaster, Rupert, from whom they mistakenly took their ideas, and who soon begins to suspect something is off. Based on the 1929 play of the same title by Patrick Hamilton. (link in title)
