Big chill

Too early in the season for a wood stove fire ...? It would seem so, but 41 degrees is 41 degees, whether it comes in early September or in the dead of winter.

With nearly two weeks of summer still on the calendar, that was the outdoor temperature we woke up to on Sunday morning. The house held tough in the low 60s, but that's still too cool for comfort.

Temperatures are supposed to climb back in the mid-80s by Wednesday - a 45-degree swing in three days.

Meanwhile, our kids out in L.A. - Michigan kids at heart, after all - are wilting in temperatures of 100-plus.

I'll take this over that.

Meanwhile, while America is enjoying the freezing cold, in Australia we are cooking eggs and bacon on the road from the heat. If Australia suddenly explodes into flames, just know that, we will rise again.
