This guy was honestly a bit of a challenge. I originally wanted to make the arm/ribs appear more flesh than bone, but the colors just looked so disjointed... so I ended up going with a desaturated fleshy base and then shaded as if it were bone and used some really light blue for cool highlights to make the arms look even more pallid. I kept the "apocalyptic case of hemorrhoids" a dark, sickly brown with hints of green and red like the source art.
I could never really figure out what was in the scales... one is clearly a liquid and the other, even in the professional paint up for Studio McVey, didn't look clear at all. The source art shows smoke coming from both... but when I finally got a test wash in, to me it looks like Wheat. Since this guy is Famine, that made sense to me, so I made it blood and wheat, heh.
