Day 72; How to spot trash friends
So this may sound like a typical projecting post, You’d be right. Yet wrong at the same time. Its merely an observation. If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in life, unhappy. Wondering why everything and everyone around you isn’t making you happy. It’s because you’ve put too much faith into everything. Funnily enough, people aren’t on this planet to make you happy. They’re merely an accessory to the fact.
You in fact need to make yourself happy. You need to be the driver of your vessel in happiness. Now you’re probably wondering why with a tittle such as ‘spotting trash friends’ even relates to you being the controller or your happiness ship. It does relate, stay with me. It relates because you are in control of who is in your life. Who is speaking to you and who you listen to. People seem to forget that just because other people are in your life doesn’t mean they need to stay there, or that you have no control over their place. It’s your life, live it.
The first thing to spot when recognising whether you have trash friends is the following. They never contact you first. It’s always you calling them, texting them, messaging them, sending that funny GIF or something along those lines, either way, YOU make first contact. Now everyone is different, if it is consistent then you need to stop firstly. Some people do get lazy with the effort being made all the time, until you stop. Then you realise who really is meant to be in your life and who isn’t.
The second thing you need to look out for is, they never make plans. So many people now days give the excuse of ‘oh i’m so busy’ yet they’re constantly uploading their social media accounts or just online every time you check your messages. If they don’t make plans with you, yet have time for other people then cut them out straight away. They aren’t your friends. I will bet money that they will be the type of person who will call you/text you when theres no-one else to hang out with. You don’t need to be a second option in peoples lives.
The third thing you need to be aware of is, friends saying that they miss you or making false promises. They usually come in the light of ‘we should totally meet up sometime’ friends. They are the ones who like the second point, are flakey friends and only want you when there’s no one else. Don’t allow people to pick you up and drop you at the first chance they get. You deserve better than that.
The forth action you should watch out for is if they don’t keep information you’ve told them in confidence, private. That usually shows if they’re disloyal or love to gossip. A true friend would respect your privacy and not talk to you about others. Usually if the first 3 points are displayed, you hopefully won’t experience the forth one. So keep in mind the first 3 points so that you don’t have the same problems.
I would like to mention that not everyone is terrible, this post is merely to make sure you aware of the bad people in your life. Once you remove bad in your life, you also welcome the good. You need to balance yourself so do, only that.
